My husband donates to United Way at work through payroll deduction.

Still?
Why?

Companies will try to force employees to donate. I refused to contribute at a plant where I had worked for 7 years. I had to tell 3 different people in the chain of command that I would not give a penny to that so called charity. I told the last one that I considered them to be harassing me. After about a week, my immediate boss warned that there would be trouble if I did not contribute. after I refused, I was given every dirty job that they had. I knew what they were doing, got very angry about it, lost my temper, and got fired.

I would rather give money to a wino than to the UW. At least I would know where the money was going.
