Princess Diana's Ex-Lover Called Dangerous

LONDON (AP) -- Princess Diana's former lover, who was found drunk and carrying cocaine earlier this year, is a potential danger to public safety who should be barred from keeping weapons, a court was told Thursday.

James Hewitt, 46, has appealed the revocation of his firearms license.

Lawyers for the police told Blackfriars Crown Court in London that Hewitt was drunk and had cocaine in his pocket when he was detained July 21 outside a restaurant with girlfriend Alison Bell.

When police searched his apartment, they found a disassembled shotgun in a case on the floor - a breach of his license, which stipulated it should have been kept in a secure cabinet.

"A drunken man with a gun is capable of being very dangerous," said James Rankin, representing the city police commissioner.

He told Justice Charles Byers, who is hearing the appeal with two magistrates, that Hewitt - who became famous for romancing Diana and then cooperating in a book about it - was capable of "irresponsible and uncontrolled behavior."

The hearing was continuing.

Hewitt denies buying drugs, as a witness had told police, saying the cocaine in his possession was just for personal use. He received a warning for carrying the drug.

This guy needs to straighten up and fly right, The Brits want to hang him anyway and he is stupid to give them the chance. By the way I think an affair between a man and a woman is a private thing and he has abused that privacy.

The joke is that security is so tight around her grave, they considered putting in landmines.

Hewitt is a walking cautionary tale. If he had kept his mouth shut, the British would have loved him forever.
He turned out to be nothing more than a cheap hustler trading on the unhappy life of a dead woman.

Looks like he'll be getting another 15 minutes in the spotlight as he slides down into Palookaville. Fine by me.

Good thing we don't live there. Yesterday, we had eight inherited firearms out in the living room and divided them between the relatives.

Character counts, and he has none.

"Prince Harry looks just like Hewitt."

I've thought the same thing myself; the kid's a dead-ringer for Hewitt.

By the way I think an affair between a man and a woman is a private thing and he has abused that privacy.

Ever heard of the Treason Act of 1351? If the woman is the wife of the King or the first in line to be King, the affair is treason.

Treason Act of 1351 (c 2)

Declaration what offences shall be adjudged treason (as in force today)

Item, whereas divers opinions have been before this time in what case reason shall be said, and in what not; the King, at the request of the lords and of the commons, hath made a declaration in the manner as hereafter followeth, that is to say; when a man doth compass or imagine the death of our lord the King, or of our lady his Queen or of their eldest son and heir; or if a man do violate the King's companion, or the King's eldest daughter unmarried, or the wife the King's eldest son and heir; or if a man do levy war against our lord the King in his realm, or be adherent to the King's enemies in his realm, giving to them aid and comfort in the realm, or elsewhere, and thereof be probably attainted of open deed by the people of their condition:. . . and if a man slea the chancellor, treasurer, or the King's justices of the one bench or the other, justices in eyre, or justices of assise, and all other justices assigned to hear and determine, being in their places, doing their offices: and it is to be understood, that in the cases above rehearsed, that ought to be judged treason which extends to our lord the King, and his royal majesty:. .

Original Anglo-French version (25 Edw. III, stat.5, c.2)

I was just going to say that. It brings back memories of that firey eulogy Princess Diana's brother gave at her funeral. Saw a recent video clip of both the boys (uhhh, men), and of course I was staring at Prince Harry. From the side, his facial structure resembles his dad, Chuckles.

Wow...fast service! Thanks.

Yeah...that is quite a resemblance.

Almost as stunning as the Chelsea, Hubble (is that the guy?) comparison.

Geez, that is a stretche! I don't see a lick of resemblence....

He does, however, look a great deal like his uncle (Diana's brother).

Oh, yeah, I don't see it either. The only resemblance is the messy hair, which can be combed. Why Harry keeps his hair in a style worn by the man who is widely rumored to be his illegitimate father is an interesting question that has more to do with psychology than genetics.

Fortunately, due to the sacrifices of some visionary patriots over 200 years ago, I don't have to care...
