The noble truths of Islam are for the Muslim Ummah. The Muslim community. How Muslims act towards others is another thing apart from how they treat others and make Jihad on others.
You should read up on the life of Muhammad because all Muslims are supposed to emulate it. The core of Islam is that the faithful Muslim must copy the life of Muhammad who is the most perfect man ever to trod this earth. Muhammad preached very nice ideas when his movement was weak. The latter part of his life was that of an assassin, murderer and warlord. The "nice" Muslims you meet are in denial about the part of Muhammad's life as a mass killer. They will tell you Muhammad only fought wars of self defense.
Islam rises and falls on Muhammad. He is the religion's sole prophet, Islam’s solitary example, Allah’s lone conduit. Without Muhammad, Allah, the Qur’an, and Islam would be unknown. Yet the picture the Islamic scriptures paint of this man is not flattering; his words aren’t believable. According to the Qur’an and Hadith, Muhammad was a thief, rapist, and terrorist. It’s hardly the example you’d want your neighbor to emulate.
Muhammad, Allah, Mecca, and the formation of Islam are completely unknown to secular history. All we know of them is derived from the Qur’an and Hadith. The earliest and most important collection of Hadith is called the Sira, or Biography. Compiled by Ibn Ishaq, the Sira provides the only written account of this man, his god, place and religion within two centuries of his death. There is no other valid source from which Muhammad can be seen, or Islam can be interpreted, differently.
To write Prophet of Doom, I analyzed the Sira, the Ta’rikh, or History of al-Tabari, and the topical Hadith collections of Bukhari and Muslim. Using Islam’s most holy books I was able to reorder the Qur’an chronologically and set it into the context of Muhammad’s life. The result is bone chilling. The depiction of the prophet by the most revered Muslim sources reveals behavior that is immoral, criminal, and violent. The five oldest and most trusted Islamic sources don't portray Muhammad as a great and godly man. They confirm that he was a thief, liar, assassin, mass murderer, terrorist, warmonger, and an unrestrained sexual pervert engaged in pedophilia, incest, and rape. He authorized deception, assassinations, torture, slavery, and genocide. He was a pirate, not a prophet. According to the Hadith and the Qur'an, Muhammad and his henchmen plundered their way to power and prosperity. And by putting the Qur'an in chronological order and correlating it with the context of Muhammad's life, we find that Allah mirrored his prophet's character. Muhammad's god condoned immoral and criminal behavior. Allah boasts about being a terrorist. Tabari VIII:122/Ishaq:515 “The Prophet gave orders concerning Kinanah to Zubayr, saying, ‘Torture him until you root out and extract what he has. So Zubayr kindled a fire on Kinanah’s chest, twirling it with his firestick until Kinanah was near death. Then the Messenger gave him to Maslamah, who beheaded him.”
Ishaq:316 “Following Badr, Muhammad sent a number of raiders with orders to capture some of the Meccans and burn them alive.”
Qur’an 8:12 “Your Lord inspired the angels with the message: ‘I will terrorize the unbelievers. Therefore smite them on their necks and every joint and incapacitate them. Strike off their heads and cut off each of their fingers and toes.”
Tabari VII:133/Ishaq:387 “When Muhammad saw Hamzah he said, ‘If Allah gives me victory over the Quraysh at any time, I shall mutilate thirty of their men!’ When the Muslims saw the rage of the Prophet they said, ‘By Allah, if we are victorious over them, we shall mutilate them in a way which no Arab has ever mutilated anybody.”
Tabari VIII:96 “A raiding party led by Zayd set out against Umm in Ramadan. During it, Umm suffered a cruel death. Zyad tied her legs with rope and then tied her between two camels until they split her in two. She was a very old woman. Then they brought Umm’s daughter and Abdallah to the Messenger. Umm’s daughter belonged to Salamah who had captured her. Muhammad asked Salamah for her, and Salamah gave her to him.”
Ishaq:369 “Thereupon Mas’ud leapt upon Sunayna, one of the Jewish merchants with whom his family had social and commercial relations and killed him. The Muslim’s brother complained, saying, ‘Why did you kill him? You have much fat in you belly from his charity.’ Mas’ud answered, ‘By Allah, had Muhammad ordered me to murder you, my brother, I would have cut off your head.’ Wherein the brother said, ‘Any religion that can bring you to this is indeed wonderful!’ And he accepted Islam.”
Ishaq: 676 “‘You obey a stranger who encourages you to murder for booty. You are greedy men. Is there no honor among you?’ Upon hearing those lines Muhammad said, ‘Will no one rid me of this woman?’ Umayr, a zealous Muslim, decided to execute the Prophet’s wishes. That very night he crept into the writer’s home while she lay sleeping surrounded by her young children. There was one at her breast. Umayr removed the suckling babe and then plunged his sword into the poet. The next morning in the mosque, Muhammad, who was aware of the assassination, said, ‘You have helped Allah and His Apostle.’ Umayr said. ‘She had five sons; should I feel guilty?’ ‘No,’ the Prophet answered. ‘Killing her was as meaningless as two goats butting heads.’”

So you're a Sufi. Big deal. The peaceful Muslims are always intimidated by the psycho Muslims. Who are the psycho Muslims? Those are the Muslims who obey the Koranic command to emulate the blood stained and violent life of the "most perfect man who ever lived". Muhammad.

Sorry -- I can not defend a religion or ideology that wishes me death and hellfire simply because I am an Infidel, Christian or Jew. And there are many forms of Jihad. One needn't be crashing planes into buildings or beheading innocents. They can contribute financially, as well.
To me, the only good Muslim is an ex-Muslim.

You know the same thing could be said of Christianity with it's bloody wars that spans the history of Europe. Why did these countless wars between Catholics, Protestants and Muslims take place? Because people have perverted a teaching of peace into the practice of war. And this kind of divide still goes on in places like Ireland. My point is that people have a choice to emphasis what they want out of a holy text. The old testament contains passages of some of the most gruesome and bloody acts ever committed by a God, but does that mean we should do the same! If we just wanted to follow the old testament teaching of an eye for an eye -- you know: If my eye offends thee... I'll pluck out yours so that you don't see me! -- then we are just as barbaric and blind as the Muslim fanatics. But we also have the new testament which has a lot to do with love, forgiveness and turning the other cheek. We have choices to make because Christianity and Islam are very questionable in places... and it's how we interpret those religious texts that will determine the quality of our life.
