Don't be so sure. I keep an eye on these issues, and it seems to me that real progress is being made.

It may not be this one, it may be some other, but soon and for real, it will come. The increment of knowledge we will amass in the next one generation (two at the most), about biology, will dwarf everything medicine has figured out from the invention of writing to the present. The technology and supporting methods and knowledge from other fields have arrived. It is now just a matter of applying them. Imaging, chemistry, data analysis - all the tools we have now are beyond the wildest fantasies doctors could conceive a single century ago. Baring civilization scale disaster, it is now just a matter of time.
