I don't get the references to Jimmy Carter on this one. Can someone enlighten me? Thanks.

Carter said during the 1980 campaign IIRC that he would "screw the Jews" (for some imagined betrayal, I think).

Carter has done his best to legitimize Chavez's government by stating in the international press that his recent "election" was a fair and honest event. This is apparently pretty far from the truth. Carter likes socialist leaders, even those with totalitarian ways, it seems.

Re references to Jimmy Carter. He legitimized the recent "election" of Hugo Chavez even though there was widespread evidence of vote fraud. He stated almost immediately that the election was legitimate and he spoke as head of a commission of external election observers and with election monitors excluded from polls and election tally documents.
