They are denied schooling, and 15-year-old Miriam suffers from an unusual form of diabetes -- type 1 -- that requires special medication, treatment that has thus far been denied her by her father.

As a type 1 diabetic, this young woman has to take insulin every day. If she is denied insulin, she will be dead soon, if she isn't already. And it will be a horrible, painful death.
