A voice-mail message left last week at the Virginia office of Laptoplobbyist.com, a conservative Internet site, went like this:
"Hi, my name is Rachel, and my telephone number is... I wanted to tell you that you're evil, horrible people. You're awful people. You represent horrible ideas. God hates you and he wants to kill your children. You should all burn in hell. Bye."
Rachel is Rachel Buchman, 25, a regular reader of Laptoplobbyist's e-mail newsletter - and a reporter with public radio station WHYY-FM (90.9) for about three years. And she left her office number at WHYY in the message last Tuesday.

Au contraire. They do get a lot of money from the government. Try looking through their books....they are hideously convoluted in order to mask that fact. They all pass money back and forth between stations, CPB, PBS and production companies. A dollar may go back and forth between the various 'public broadcasting' entities 10 or more times. But if you look at dollars in (donations, sponsorships, gov't) and dollars out (salaries utilites etc NOT including payments to other public b'casting entities) a big part of it comes from our taxes. They are basically a money laundering organization.
I have some SPRAE (Sudden Post Reelection Amused Expressions) for that PEST. Guaranteed to raise your laughter level, get liquids on your keyboard, and just make your day. Manufactured by Schadenfreude, a tiny little division of Halliburton.
This is stupidity on a level I'd never heard before. Is there a maximum IQ for working for NPR and its member stations?

If you're in the Philly area and need a classical station, you should tune to WRTI (www.wrti.org) 90.1. It's a very professional station run from Temple University, and it's not NPR. News is limited to headlines and traffic.
I'll bet the conversation before that picture was taken involved the perfidy of men. Taking bets? Anyone?
There was a good discussion about this on Philly talk radio (1210 WPHT). One caller made a good point...she was probably pressured to resign because her call indicated a belief in God and the existance of Hell.
That said, I think the key to this is what motivated her. Either she is A) a bitter partisan and therefor unqualified to be an objective reporter or B) totally ignorant of what being a conservative actually means and therefore unqualified to be an objective reporter. I think it is a combination of both, but it is interesting that this supposedly well educated (ivy league) young woman could be so ignorant of so much of America.
If she was paid to broadcast opinion, it would be different. But she was supposedly an objective journalist...and one paid, at least in part, by our tax dollars.

This particular station has fundraisers to assist with expenses. They call us for donations and we always gave until one year they ran a program on Judy Garland Park and the homosexual activity taking place there. I found it offensive. When they called for the donation I said no and told them why...................the caller put me in for the same donation we had given the previous year. I was really outraged he would do that. I ignored the letters and never gave them another cent.
Public radio ping!
Since Laptoplobbyist is the focus of Ms. Buchman's death threats, I thought a link to the site would be appropriate gesture and might help to pump up their traffic.
