Besides Condi for SoS which was a no-brainer, haven't our speculations been totally wrong as to who W has been nominating to Cabinet posts?

I am really disliking Shep Smith these days and he didn't help by jumping in just now.

MSNBC and CNN are correctly sticking with Ridge. Fox has "moved on".

Oh, but while CNN covers Ridge they have onscreen "Protests against President Bush continue in Ottowa"

Oh, now CNN leaves Ridge to cover the protesters. MSNBC still with Ridge.

Ha...we both noted the CNN coverage of the protesters in Canada.

I'm on MSNBC now, though.

That bothers me also .. it's not like they have anything else but the Peterson trial to talk about

Don't know about the speculations of others, but what I posted in #112 was a paragraph from the Associated Press story. They listed names being mentioned in DC as possible successors to Ridge.

Anyone that thinks Bush will appoint someone who is interested in securing our borders is living in a dream world. If anything look for someone who supports open borders to be nominated. I could be wrong but I doubt it. Amazing how politicians think everyone except themselves, should follow our laws.

CNN just showed some fighting in the crowd.

Oh, look, a "No Blood for Oil" sign.

I am sure that idiot has never heard or would not care about the real blood for oil outrage: The "Oil for Food" scandal that lined Saddam's pockets and via Saddam's largesse, terrorists, as well as corrupt politicians and businessmen from various and sundry places like France and the UN. That resulted in the shedding of the blood of the Iraqi citizens as well as the terrorists' victims.

The Lost Son, by Bernie Kerik, was an eye opener. He was impressive in NYC in the days following 9/11 and his autobiography is fascinating.

Before being appointed Police Commission of NYC, Bernie was Commission of the Department of Correction. Prior to that he spent 3 yearsin the Army as an MP assigned to Korea and the 18th Airborne ehre he trained Special Forces at the JFK Unconventional Welfare Center in N.C.

I, for one, think he will appoint someone interested in securing our borders.

But then, I've got my brain to think with, ears to hear with and eyes to see with.

Grab your crying towel and find another thread to whine on.

Good riddance, Tommy Boy. One less pro-baby-killing heretic in the Administration.

Political pundits have spoken off and on of Tom Ridge's interest in running for president since 1999. After GWB was nominated in 2000, Ridge was considered to be on the short list for the VP slot before Dubya surprised everyone by picking Dick Cheney. Even during this latest campaign, punditry had it that Ridge would resign if GWB won reelection, so that Ridge could start a presidential exploratory effort.

However, we should bear in mind that it's a long, long way between now and when the next GOP nominee will be chosen in 2008. Because it will be the first time in a very long time that no sitting VP or incumbent president will be running, 2008 will be the most wide open shot presidential wannabes in both parties will have in their lifetimes. For most, it will be their only shot.

I'm reading a new book called The Real Jimmy Carter which mentions, btw, that Time magazine called his actions bordering on treason.

After Carter's "malaise" speech, he had the most thorough, puzzling purge of his cabinet in the history of the United States presidency. He demanded the pro forma resignation of his entire cabinet along with 23 other senior WHite House staff. Time magazine called it the biggest cabinet upheaval since 1841.

The purge of his cabinet sent the dollar into a tailspin.

But we can't expect the MSM to actually remember any history; they just invent it as they go along.

They're dragging some off.

Suzanne Malveaux reporting says they're expecting as many as 15,000. It does NOT look big at all and they're all crammed together in small space.

They're noting the variety of issues on the signs (gee, just like the protests in NY before the Republican Convention).

Leon Harris speaking (foolishly) about how this represents the variety of issues "Canadians" have with the administration. I believe many were bussed in from the U.S. and as I pointed out, other protests of this type are also an amalgam of these lefty outfits.
