Excellent. We shall see who will replace him, then, and I'll look you up if your tip turns out to be correct.

Tommy Franks. Save Rudy for the Senate. We can't have ASA. No Way!

It doesn't matter who it is.

Bush won't let anyone at DHS to actually do anything about effectively sealing the borders and securing the ports...

Bush is our 1st Mexican POTUS.

I like the thinking, but I don't think that extra Senate seat matters that much. No matter who the Republican Governor appoints, no Republican would be able to hold onto the seat in '06. Wouldn't really get us any closer to the magic number of 60.

Thanks much, happy to be here, long time reader.

Would love to see Feith, Rudy would be great too. Really hoping MSM is wrong on Asa. Ugh.

Ridge was according to many here on FR and various posts over the years the most pro-abortion Republican out there.

Homeland Security needs a politically savvy, retired general.

I'd nominate Schwarzkopf, but I think Wayne Downing is more savvy in the political world. Either one, though, would be great picks.

This slot is too important to put a lifelong civilian in it.

This resignation of Ridge doesn't surprise me. According to DC area new stories a few months ago, Tom Ridge has a few kids in college, not much in net worth and a huge ARM mortgage on a house in Bethesda, MD that his government salary cannot afford for the long haul.

I think Ridge is leaving so he can make the big bucks in the private sector.
