CLINTONS REWRITING HISTORY...AGAIN
By Michelle Malkin   ·   November 30, 2004 04:24 PM

City attempts white out during Clinton festivities

From the AP:

LITTLE ROCK - Seeking to distance itself from a checkered racial past, Little Rock erased "Confederate Blvd." from interstate highway signs just weeks before dignitaries arrived for the opening of Bill Clinton's presidential library.

The Confederate Boulevard signs had been the first landmarks many saw after landing at the city's airport. And while the boulevard still runs north from Interstate 440, signs for Exit 1 now tout a southbound stretch of the same road named "Springer Blvd.," which honors black community leader Horace Springer and his family...

What else would you expect from Bill "I have vivid and painful memories of black churches being burned in my own state when I was a child" Clinton and Hillary "I was named after Sir Edmund Hilary" Clinton?

You guys are great with the pictures. Michelle and Ann have you guys going. They both can write and I pay attention to them too. I hate to tell you all though that my Grandsons would steal them from you all. God bless Guys.

Actually, it's a no-win situation with the pictures.  If I post an article without accompanying pictures by Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter or Laura Ingraham then I'm endlessly flamed for not including pictures and I get thirty posts asking me to post the pics and  people don't discuss the article in any way.  If I post an article from any of them with pics then I get a few of the expected comments with sexual innuendo but I've found that eventually people will get off that and start discussing the substance of the article sooner than if I don't include the pics.  It's taken me many threads to discover the best balance and there will always be those such as yourself that will find fault no matter what's done, but it's either this or not post anything from them at all.  I would prefer to at least give their works greater exposure, and if that means  including some tasteful pictures of them then so be it.

Speaking for myself, as to them 'having me going', of course any sane, healthy, single man would be honored to have a date with any of them, but I'm not holding my breath.  Stoats have occasional fleas and I doubt that any of these ladies would want to put up with that  :-)

Stoat I'm not finding fault with you at all. I'm just tickled when I see this. They are pretty girls and I would never deny that. I'm just old enough to see them as daughters rather than dates.

In a nutshell, Clinton is a big fat hypocrite.

You won't get any arguments from me on this point, although I would suggest that hypocrisy has become the foundation of the Democrats.

I would add that he is indeed a masterful politician, but masterful in the pejorative sense of being deftly manipulative and breathtakingly underhanded and sly.

It surprises me that his 'library' is so small, as it surely isn't large enough to contain his mammoth ego.

Thank you for your clarification and I apologize for my misinterpretation of your post.

Oh! but, the location is perfect. An industrial river bottom area where I40 and I35 intersect.

We live in the Memphis area, and past by on I40 going West, I might be curious enough just to take a peek at the outside.

Sounds appropriate, given the subject matter and focus of this 'library'

I can understand the feeling....sort of like the way you feel when you pass by a train wreck....you know it's going to be horrific, but you just HAVE to look....

I think the boulevard was probably named for the Confederate cemetery & memorial, now part of Arkansas National Cemetery which is on that road. Never underestimate WJC's capacity to piss on the dead when it suits his purpose.

Wow1  That's interesting....I'm wondering if Michelle Malkin is aware of that?  This certainly adds a dimension to the story that's not apparent from her article.  If you can find documentation to this effect, or even a MapPoint or Expedia online map that shows the road and the cemetery, I'm sure that she would be very interested.

This would increase the magnitude of this event exponentially, in that not only have the Clintons insulted and sullied a community for their own political and economic gain but they have also soiled history and offended the families of the Confederate veterans buried at that site.

"Fear not, Michelle, the Bill Clinton Library will be a big flop!!! End of story!!! The only thing he will be remembered for was enabling 911."

A flop, probably not, too many stupid American Dims for that. As to what he will be remembered for, IMHO it will always be Zippergate.

"I get it. It's okay to bash Clinton again. We'll just conveniently forget about President Bush effusively praising him a couple weeks ago. So, anyway, I guess that's old news. Let's get on with the fun."

There is a season on many gamefish, on deer and on many wild life. There is no season on the Klintoons - scum like them are ALWAYS in season. No holds barred!

The hysterical Democrats hate President Bush even when he's chumming up to ex-Prez Clinton. They can't and won't be won over.

So maybe I'm one of the few FReepers who think what happened a few weeks ago was either a disgusting show of insincerity or, worse yet, a disgusting show of *sincerity*. But at least I don't have to worry about consistency issues.

MY objection to renaming the street is that it is part of history and good, bad or indifferent, I don't believe in rewriting history or changing something in a town for the PC crap. Especially since I think it has to do with helping Hilly the hun.

Of course that's true, and I doubt that there's anyone who is so naive as to believe otherwise.

So maybe I'm one of the few FReepers who think what happened a few weeks ago was either a disgusting show of insincerity or, worse yet, a disgusting show of *sincerity*. But at least I don't have to worry about consistency issues.

I agree that President Bush's speech at the 'library' was disgusting and very hard to listen to.  I didn't like it at all.  That being said, I suppose I don't attach a lot of anger to it because they are merely words, delivered in the context of an uncomfortable social situation where he really needed to be gracious.  To be otherwise would have dominated the news for the next year and distracted him from his work, which is of a far more tangible nature.  Yes, he could have delivered a barn-burning speech that ripped Clinton up one side and down the other, but what would have have accomplished for the long term?  It would only have given ammunition to the Left, of "Republican hate speech" and who knows what else.  As it is now, everybody who knows anything knows that Clinton is worthless and that President Bush was merely trying to be polite.  It's over and done with, and the words have evaporated into the air, whereas President Bush is accomplishing great, tangible things that will shape our nation and the world for generations to come.

I think that the President was being consistent in that he's keeping his eye on the ball...focusing on the tangible things and being a courteous and gracious man whenever possible.

The important thing is that he has succeeded in rolling back much of what the Clintons have done, and so at the end of the day what you have is an impeached jerk of an ex-President with a hideously ugly 'library' and the legacy of a criminal versus a good an honorable man who is doing good work for the world.

You're entirely welcome to focus a lot of anger and energy on President Bush's speech....I did too at the time, but I've since moved on and nowadays I find it interesting that Clinton has succeeded in changing the character of  that community with little or no scrutiny from the press.  If you think that changing street signs for political reasons is irrelevant, that's fine, you're welcome to your opinion.
