It's the taxes. Meanwhile, we *pay* an Earned Income Tax credit to families with less income. I'd rather pay $100/month or so to someone who's earning $12,000/year than pay many times that to someone who's earning $0. Actually, I'd rather pay $100/month to someone earning $12,000/year than pay $1 to someone who has no good reason to be earning $0.

Me too. I don't have a problem with the Earned Income Tax Credit, even though it is a type of welfare.
