Our band had the time of our lives with you at the Inaugural Ball. From all I can hear, the Freep Ball was THE real deal where people had fun, while most reports of the other balls were of long lines, crowded settings, and music for old people.
We have been blown away by the kind comments about the band from those who attended--we usually have to play behind chicken wire to keep from being hit by flying bottles and chairs! You guys were the VERY BEST crowd we've EVER played to! People were more than nice--they were simply awesome!
It was a great honor for us to be with you and experience the energy of that room--enough to make a liberal squeal like a pig!
Thanks! You guys are more fun than is probably legal in most states!
Gratefully,
Mike Huckabee, Governor
Arkansas

Okay. I am strongly considering this. I am currently unemployed. So money is a bit of a stretch for me right now. I live in Northern Virginia. So I don't have to worry about plane tickets or hotel prices. I just have to scrounge up the 175 bucks to attend. And I don't have a date for it, could use one. Ugh. Decisions, Decisions.

Ticket purchased? Check!
Dress selected? Check!
Room? Check!
That takes care of that!. Now, I know there is a dress code, but can/may I skip the shoes?

I'm in (1085)! My frau and I are looking forward to a great time. I'll be in dress blues and my wife in black.
I live in Northern VA so any military-types with questions about getting around in DC "soldier style" drop me a line.
I'm a fairly new freeper so please someone clue me in on the pre and post parties!
See you there!

The Washington Times - Inside the Beltway by John McCaslinGovernor's gig
Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and his rock 'n' roll band, Capitol Offense, will headline the Jan. 20 inaugural ball hosted by Free Republic, a grass-roots conservative news, analysis and activism forum, in Washington.
It's a repeat performance for the 49-year-old Mr. Huckabee, whose gubernatorial term expires in 2007. Because of the high-spirited show put on by his band at the 2001 Free Republic Inaugural Ball and Count the White House Silverware Party, guests left other inaugural balls in favor of the governor's less-formal gig, which, this year, honors the U.S. armed forces

Just saw that you asked to be added to the DC Chapter ping list months ago, but apparently were not on at least some versions of the list. I apologize for my error.
At any rate, I've added you to the list. In the next few days, I will send the revised list to others authorized to use it.
I did want to ping you to this thread.
Hope that you can come to the event! It should be great!
