I just called out there and spoke with a young woman named Becky. She said that it is a holiday parade to bring people into down town Denver. I asked her if it was true that the words Merry Christmas were not allowed on the floats. She said that was not correct. The words Merry Christmas were allowed on the floats. hmmmm.... are we misinformed? or...

Maybe "Becky" is the one who is misinformed.

The parade spokesman says the words Merry Christmas are banned:

Christmastime event is no-Christian zone

Despite the inclusion of these groups with spiritual connotations, parade spokesman Michael Krikorian said the event does not allow "direct religious themes." Included in the ban are signs that read "Merry Christmas" and the singing or playing of Christmas hymns.

I would PREFER to AVOID making anything connected overtly to CHRIST to become an instant and abiding irritation to anyone--especially someone potentially attractable to Our Lord...Therefore, I would not encourage playing Christmas carols to the poor gals on the phones at the org headquarters.

Denver Colorado Freepers; I have a really good idea for the "Holiday Parade"

Organize some CO Freepers to go to the parade dressed as the Holy Family!!!

You could have lots of Mary's, Joseph's and baby Jesus's holding candles and stuffed lambs.
Guess who would get the attention and the press?!!!!
Of course notify the press in advance :>)
Now that would be some "Joy to the world!" I am from Michigan but I have a close personal friend who would drive to Denver to take part in this!!

Someone please post this on the Colorado state board

<< Denver bans words 'Merry Christmas' from traditional downtown parade of lights >>

<< Exactly. Defy these pukes. Show them who's boss.
And make a party of it. >>

About on par for Denver.

When I lived there during the late eighties, early through mid-nineties, the appropriately named Fed Pen and/or Wellington Boot, that other lying, looting, thieving bloody dawk who succeeded [Make that "followed"] him as mayor, took time off from scrapping the fabulous Stapleton Airport and building the DemocRAT"-enriching Fifteen-Billion-Dollar backed-up-baggage boondoggle that replaced it, to ally themselves with the descendents of some land-bridge Asian migrants to ban the 500th-year celebration of Christopher Columbus's discovery of our continent!

I just called the mayor's office and a pleasant-sounding lady informed me he wanted to change the words "Merry Xmas" to "Happy Holidays" but is not going to do that anymore.

Don't blame the Muslims for suppressing Christmas.

I agree with you there. Every once in a while Great Britain will pull one of these psycho anti-Christian things, and they'll get the opinion of the local Muslim spokeman (and these are Muslims in England, a pretty radical jihadist bunch) who will say, "They're not doing it for us; we don't care one way or another."

The Muslims aren't afraid of some Christmas decorations and a saint's name on a school. They have different priorities. Not exactly better ones, though.

We need a protest, a million dollar march on Washington. Christians, don't buy anything, send a donation to your church or to the Salvation Army or fulfill a wish privately. Hit the seculars where it hurts

We must eradicate PC like what was done to Communism and Nazism. PC is the plague that needs to be destroyed at all costs. We should have death squads to liquidate the PC CommuNazis from the face of humanity.

Looks like we have a blue city in a red state. This is the democRATs values in action. They just don't get it. They also go after the Boy Scouts et al. The RATS just keep on giving us issues. Let's not forget this at the next election. Parley

"Hey there Mr. Muslim ... Hey there Mr. Hinduist ... Hey there Mr. Shintoist ... Taoists, Krishnas, Buddhists, and all you atheists too ...

You're either a PC coward for remaining silent on the obvious, or an ignoramus. It's not the Muslims, the Hindus, the Shintoists, the Taoists, the Krishnas, the Buddhists, or the atheists who are most offended by Christmas. Really, you left out the most obvious group.

I've lived my whole life in New York and Los Angeles, and it seems to me that it's Jews who are most upset by Christmas. Why? Because they fear that their kids will feel left out, or worse, may want to join in Christmas celebrations. I've read several times that Hanakah wasn't even a serious holiday, it was only made so in the US so as to have something to counter Christmas. As The Passion demonstrated, many Jews (not Buddhists or Hindus) have real animosity toward Christianity.

This PC sensitivity is mostly directed at Jewish feelings. Last year in Los Angeles, I saw huge menorahs (no Buddhist or Taoist displayes) popping up in front of many stores (Vons, Wild Oats) that won't put up Christian displays. When I visited New York last year, I saw huge menorahs (no Hindu or Muslim displays) on city property, but no Christian displays (I think because menorahs have been classified as "cultural" symbols rather than "religious.")

I see many menorhahs in public standing by themselves, but have difficulty finding Christmas displays that don't also have a menorah beside it. No Buddhist or Taoist or Muslim displays -- and not complaints either from Buddhists, Taoists, or Muslims, none that I know of.

Who is being offended here? Immigrants? Illegal aliens?

Why was it OK 20 years ago, but not now?

Before you start a diatribe about rounding up all immigrants and shipping them back just look at all the major liberal "leaders" and "thinkers" . They are ALMOST ENTIRELY white. Most homosexuals and atheist activists are clearly white . Immigrants generally are far more conservative than the white population in almost every area except immigration and in Hispanic's case affirmative action. Blacks and whites are the soul of the liberal movement and only sensible whites and immigrants carry the conservative banner.
