Recent intelligence shows Iran has been working to produce a missile re-entry vehicle containing a small nuclear warhead for its Shahab missiles and has encountered problems developing a reliable centrifuge system for uranium enrichment, U.S. officials said. The officials, who discussed the intelligence on the condition of anonymity, said Iran's new nuclear warhead program includes what specialists call the basic "physics package" for fitting a nuclear bomb inside the nose cone of a missile.

If we allow Iran to develop (a) nuclear weapons, (b) missle delivery systems and (c) warheads, then IMHO, the WOT is a big joke.

Iran's top nuclear official Hassan Rowhani gives a press conference in Tehran 30 November 2004. Iran boasted Tuesday it had scored a 'great victory' against the United States by escaping the threat of sanctions over its controversial nuclear programme.
Tehran, Iran (AFP) Nov 30, 2004 Iran boasted Tuesday it had humiliated the United States at a board meeting of the UN atomic watchdog by agreeing to what it reiterated was only a temporary freeze of its suspect nuclear programme.
"The Islamic republic has not renounced the nuclear fuel cycle, will never renounce it and will use it," top national security official and nuclear negotiator Hassan Rowhani told a news conference.
"We have proved that, in an international institution, we are capable of isolating the United States. And that is a great victory," he added.
On Monday the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) spared Iran the fate of being referred to the UN Security Council for possible sanctions after Tehran agreed in a deal with Britain, France and Germany to suspend its uranium enrichment programme.
The United States accuses Iran of seeking nuclear weapons, a charge vehemently denied by Tehran. It had been pressuring the IAEA's 35-nation board of governors to send the case straight to New York.
Rowhani, who smiled and joked with reporters during a nearly two-hour-long press conference, claimed that the US envoy to the IAEA "was enraged and in tears, and everybody said that the Americans had failed and we had won".
He also asserted that Iran had only agreed to the suspension for the duration of negotiations with the European trio that should yield lucrative incentives for the Islamic republic.
What American Leftists are too stupid and too anti-American to understand is that Saddam's regime, in addition to providing a safe haven for terrorists, including Al Qaida, was a puppet regime for Chirac, Schroeder, Putin, and the United Nations, which they hoped would enable them to overthrow American hegemony.
Eurabia you mean. May as well call it what it's fast becoming. The Europeon infidels work to support the rapid Islamic immigrant influx, as Muhammad meant it to be.
Classic Dhimmitude, they just haven't come to realize it yet.

If so, they sure are going about it in a stupid way. Their "Euro" is making them uncompetitive with the rest of the world. they are on the verge of economic collapse, and have been so for a few years now. The rising value of the Euro is a bad thing for them, accelerating the inevitable.
Japan is actually the key player. Not only is Japan our big lender (and they make a tidy profit at it because the Japanese government in turns borrows yen for a much lower rate to finance their treasury bond purchases), Iran foolishly has recently rejected Japan for Chinese oil contracts.
Iran has been Japan's third most important oil supplier, and Japan would have been nervous about us taking out Iran.
The mullahs, mad as always, then cut their own legs out from under themselves by deciding that China was their preferred customer. You know, I am not sure that Saddam Hussein ever made a worse decision, although clearly he made some just as boneheaded.
With the recent halt to the flood of FDI into the US, can this be enough to sustain US cash flow?
Unless oil exporters convert to Euros. Then they can print a bucketload with minimal consequences, deflating the Euro somewhat in the process. Meanwhile those petrodollars would come home to the US. Not a pretty sight there.
One wonders what Soros had in mind in his mad push for Kerry. His MO is to collapse a currency and rush in with cash to buy discounted hard assets.
The big numbers have been where the Japanese government has made massive interventions to prop up the dollar against the yen. It's in their self-interest to do this, since Japan has been trying to keep the yen in the 105 yen / dollar range to bolster their exports.
But a couple of other factors have come into play. One is Japan's burgeoning trade with China. I am sure that there are some very, very smart people inside Nichigin and the MOF trying to decide what works best. Another factor is that they have really done quite well in trade with us, and they could let the yen/dollar slip a bit which I think is what Washington is probably more likely asking them now to do.
What I would like to see is Washington seriously get into a budget-cutting frenzy and reduce our need to borrow so much money. That and some much needed tax reform, and the Bush administration remarkable accomplishments in Iran and Afghanistan will have a prominent place in history as a fine 8 year administration. No one, but no one, would have predicted in 2000 that Afghanistan would hold elections in the next millenium, much less in 2004. One of the worst dictators in the world has been deposed. The present Bush administration has long road ahead of it, but I think it will ultimately prove to be a very successful one.
We live in interesting times.
IMHO, both pale in comparison to regulatory racketeering (particularly environmental "law", the keys to which are in tort reform and insurance deregulation.
AS REAGAN ALWAYS SAID: TRUST BUT VERIFY.
GOOD NEWS
"Iran is working on long-range missiles capable of hitting European capitals, as well as nuclear and chemical warheads, an exile group said on Thursday."
Agreed. Kinda like like how we allowed NK to do the same thing. It's tough to bluff without something better than at least "high card" and the guts to use it.
Obviously, we're highly committed to going after those dangerous and unstable nations who want to develop nuclear weapons but are going about it too slowly. Hello, North Korea!
Oh , but I think they understand very well .......
