I am not really certain that talking about stem cell research to captive elementary age students on a bus qualifies as Free Speech. Termination sounds a little extreme unless there were additional driver problems.

my wife had a perfect record as a driver, there were never any problems before this, except it is a union shop and she had a Bush sign in our car..

Possibly she heard the kids talking about it and threw in her two-cents worth. Termination definitely sounds extreme for this "infraction."

I am not really certain that talking about stem cell research to captive elementary age students on a bus qualifies as Free Speech. This brings up a very ironic point. Since the school is not Congress, it can not be a violation of the first amendment (i.e. "Congress shall pass no law...") for the school to impose restrictions on speech. But wait! Left wing judicial activists have already established that schools must be bound by the limits of the first amendment concerning "passing laws respecting an establishment of religion" to extend to the policies of public schools.
Even not knowing all the facts, it seems obvious the school's objection to a single instance of a seemingly reasonable statement suggests a controversial agenda of liberal indoctrination.
It seems to me the school is in trouble if she sues.

Qualifying free speech leads to loss of free speech.
