SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Now he tells us.Kenneth Starr says another independent counsel should have led the Monica Lewinsky investigation that resulted in the impeachment of former President Bill Clinton.
He told a California newspaper he should only have focused on Clinton's role in the failed Arkansas land deal known as Whitewater and left the Lewinsky matter to someone else.
"There was a sense on the part of the country that my [Lewinsky] effort was an effort somehow to expand the [Whitewater] investigation, when it was separate," he told the Santa Barbara News-Press.
The former independent counsel, now dean of Pepperdine University law school, says a different counsel should have been named to investigate Clinton's statements denying he trysted with White House intern Lewinsky.
At his 1999 impeachment trial, Clinton was acquitted by the Senate of perjury and obstruction of justice.

IMHO another independent council should have led the entire investigation into the clintons.
...and disbarred.
He told a California newspaper he should only have focused on Clinton's role in the failed Arkansas land deal known as Whitewater and left the Lewinsky matter to someone else.
Likewise someone else should have investigated Vince Fosters death also.
How about a news article by Clintons mother saying something to the effect she wished she didn't have sex the night (or day) baby Billy was conceived?
That would make me feel much better than this article. ;)

Unfortunately, his mother is dead. What is ironic, being that Billy Jeff is a big supporter of abortion, is that the type of woman his mother was, if abortion was legal back then, we probably never would have heard of him.
And he wasn't acquitted by the Senate. Those gutless pukes didn't even take it up.
Starr and Fiske, et al.: There's Little to ShowIn regard to Kenneth Starr's Oct. 20 editorial-page commentary "What We've Accomplished":
Mr. Starr exhibits astonishing ignorance about the case he inherited from Robert Fiske, and then husbanded for five years. He states that, "Mr. Fiske, like any federal prosecutor, had the authority to take the investigation in whatever direction seemed promising." This is nonsense. Janet Reno issued a regulation to serve as Fiske's charter for his investigation. The regulation contains four sections. Each starts with the words, "The Independent Counsel: In re Madison Guarantee Savings & Loan Association." Each refers to "FEDERAL criminal law." (my emphasis) Fiske had no legal authority to investigate anything that occurred while Clinton was President. Mr. Starr states that, "Fiske and his staff had been investigating cases of bankruptcy fraud, various tax matters, and apparent irregularities in the gubernatorial campaign." If this is true, there is little to show for it. Fiske issued two reports, both on the death of Vincent Foster, but otherwise there is no evidence that he did anything at all.
Of course there is little to show for Mr. Starr's own effort. He seems to want to blame this on Susan McDougal, as if she were the Rosetta Stone of every Clinton Scandal. But Susan McDougal was not there when Chinese funny money was being accepted, Billy Dale was being railroaded, FBI files were being abused, or Webbster Hubbell was receiving hush money. Starr wrote instead about Monica Lewinsky.
ML/NJ
Instead, the media closed ranks and protected the dirty Dem.
Starr wanted to leave
BUT
The democrats howled that he should finish his job
They didn't want to have to start another smear campaign against a new prosecuter
Trent and crew failed to do their job in the senate as expected. I remember how Trent (cheerleader) was attacked for his alleged racial speech concerning his admiration for Strom. When push comes to shove in the senate they all look out for their best interests. Our interests and the USA take a back seat. Kltoon should have been put out to pasture without any compensation/disgraced.
Gee, Ken, how's all that Chinese money holding out?
STFU!
At least Ken Starr is making public statements now. He should write a book.
I couldn't agree more! But, I still think that the sympathy played a big part, just as I think that sympathy helped George Bush. People get tired of someone being bashed to death.
