MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A woman who gave what she said were flu shots to more than two dozen people, then fled when asked for information about her credentials, was arrested Friday, police said.
State health officials said they didn't know what was in the shots given to at least 28 people, but no one had reported any ill effects as of Friday. The shots were given on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Augsburg College in Minneapolis.
"It is possible that it was flu vaccine, and it's also possible that it was saline. But we don't know," said Doug Schultz, a spokesman for the state Health Department.
Officers arrested the 33-year-old woman in Belgrade on suspicion of theft and drug possession, Minneapolis police spokesman Ron Reier said in a news release. Evidence was recovered, though police didn't provide details.
A call to Reier wasn't immediately returned Friday night.
The college said in a statement that the woman claimed to be with the American Heart Association and was wearing green scrubs and a white lab coat. She left campus when asked for more information about her credentials, the school said.
The American Heart Association told the school the woman was not affiliated with the organization.
The college has asked anyone who received a shot from the woman to contact campus security and their own physician. Security workers sent e-mails to students, teachers and others on campus and posted signs on the doors of campus buildings after learning about the suspicious shots.
John Pack, the director of safety and security for Augsburg, said the woman charged $20 per shot and gave them near an area of the building where shots have been given in the past.
"She had individually wrapped needles, a sharps container - everything she was doing looked professional," he said.
Pack also said an Augsburg employee who schedules rooms for various uses was home on bed rest during the week and the college was in the process of reassigning those duties. "This woman got lucky," he said.
The United States has suffered a flu vaccine shortage since British health officials shut down a Liverpool plant operated by shot-maker Chiron Corp. in October, canceling a shipment of 48 million doses. Chiron is one of the nation's two suppliers.

Just Damn.
Man. Weird.
something similar in Seattle a few days ago....a woman was giving "flu" shots near a store...and she was finally asked for credentials and she just vanished.....could be the same woman....
When I was in college a man was a man.
If someone offered you a shot you took it like a man.
If someone took that shot from you, you were expected to take a shot at them. And you made that shot count, because if he got up from your shot, it was a fair bet that you weren't gonna get up from his.
If you were lucky, by leaving time, your money was shot, and depending on the shots you'd taken that night... That cute blond is was worth a shot. Why not?
As long as you haven't shot yourself in the foot, go for it. Dad always said, don't shoot your mouth off, and don't shoot yourself in the foot, especially if you have your foot in your mouth.
Yes, some nights you shoot your wad, some nights it shoots you.
Back then if you didn't have any money, you shot the bull instead of pounding shots.
Shoot, that's all I can come up with on short notice. Anyone else wanna take a shot at this?
Bummer - hope they thought to run HIV tests and so forth.
LOL!!!!
I cannot believe how many people are willing to let just anybody INJECT something into their bodies. First it was Botox and now this?
Looks like there is some easy money to be had from the flu prone folks.
I hope these people are okay.
Wanna take a shot at #4?
Reminds me of the fake muslim doctor arrested last year,
he had given the shots in Arizona, Nevada, California and Washington.
If I went to a clinic, and some whacko purposefully gave me a shot of Aids or some other crap other than what I went in for, I would hunt them down and kill them -- and then I would blow the building up. But that's just my viewpoint.
My bro went there 20 years ago. Pretty expensive, but only 2 miles south of/from the U of M campus in down town.
Some scummy people live in nearby neigborhoods.
I will pass while LOL
thanks
N
I heard they found her and she was an RN, but they still don't know what she was injecting people with.
On the news driving this afternoon.
I occasionally go to school there. It was probably mostly administration getting the shots, but they won't admit it.
The campus does have a high crime rate for things like
car theft and such.
You notice they don't name the person or the nationality unless its an evil white person!.....I hope the person's name didn't involve a Kalil or Mohammed or something!
