Please help my 6 year old son find peace. In an effort to quell his fears, I am auctioning the ghost of my father (his grandfather). The winner will receive his well-used cane. I would like to ask you to write a letter after you've received the cane (and the ghost) to my son letting him know that he's there with you and you're getting along great. It is my hope that this will put an end to his restless nights. Thank you all for your help and heartfelt interest.

If this woman was only interested in her son's emotional well being, then she would simply have a friend write to the kid and say that her father's ghost was now living with them. Instead, she's exploiting her son's fears, and turning the situation into an opportunity to make some money. Based on the bidding, there's a lot of gullible people out there.

Here's a link to Weird Al Yankovic's ebay song.

Friend of mine who sent me this once said, "I'm convinced you can sell anything on ebay".

i agree - by acting as if there is a ghost she is validating the kids irrational fear

I would have told my kid that Grandpa was in heaven and the Bible tells us the gap between us and the spirit world cant be spanned (luke 16:26) and dropped it at that

If he persisted I would suggest he pray to Christ, so He could pass a message along

My son played with "Dick and Ditto". They lived outside in the tree.

Let the kid read some Hamlet:

I am thy father's spirit,
Doom'd for a certain term to walk the night,
And for the day confined to fast in fires,
Till the foul crimes done in my days of nature
Are burnt and purged away. But that I am forbid
To tell the secrets of my prison-house,
I could a tale unfold whose lightest word
Would harrow up thy soul, freeze thy young blood,
Make thy two eyes, like stars, start from their spheres,
Thy knotted and combined locks to part
And each particular hair to stand on end,
Like quills upon the fretful porpentine:
But this eternal blazon must not be
To ears of flesh and blood. List, list, O, list!
If thou didst ever thy dear father love--

Susie seemed to come and go at will, while Itsy was always with my daughter. He was the nice imaginary friend. Susie was a brat.

There's not a ghost of a chance that I would ever bid on something like this.

The cane. And it's my guess that the bidder is going to "stiff" her.

Heck.

I've got some skeltons in my closet that I'm willing to part with for cheap!

Not to mention the bats in my belfry or the toys in my attic!

:-)
