"Don't you think our military and their leaders are smart enough to use the right kind of weapons for each conflict?"

As more info became available on this system and how it would be used, I basically retracted my "knee jerk" original statements. I envisioned some hand held stun gun that could have little use in a wild mob, that might contain people with firearms waiting to pop out of the crowd as they usually do.
However, once I understood how the system will operate and it's range of effectiveness, I altered my viewpoint in follow up responses.
But thanks for your statements. Yes your right, our folks would know when this system could have a maximum effect verse not being deployed at a given site.
In short, all my misgivings have evaporated at this point.

Okay. I'm sorry if I piled on while you were coming to terms with it.

I can be that way sometimes...... :)

No problem. I should have hesitated in shooting my mouth off with no knowledge on the issue at hand.

What I hope will not come to be is that the humvee carrying the gun will not become a prime target for insurgents with rpgs. The humvee will not be as manuverable as one that just contains three Marines lets say. It will be almost top heavy and not be able to move about to avoid incoming very well.

A humvee even if they doubled or tripled the thickness of the armor would not stop a rpg. But hopefully by the time a final version is put into service, Iraq will be a truly quite place for the most part. Guess time will tell.

Those are very good concerns. I'll bet they use a similar set up to the way they use the sound weapons.

Whatever that set up is! LOL!

Not likely. First one has to spot them, and beleive me, they aren't easy to spot. It isn't as if there are bowling balls with candles sticking out of them labelled "Acme IED" on them. In some places there's lots of trash around and sometimes they are in the trash. Sometimes they are under the rocks, sometimes they are behind the road signs. Sometimes they are under the pavement. And heat alone doesn't detonate explosives.

"If you're a Democrat, this is your require[d] response:
THIS MUST BE STOPPED!!! NOW!!! WE CANNOT ALLOW OUR MILITARY TO DEVELOP WEAPONS THAT ACTUALLY LET THEM WIN BATTLES!!!
Pretty sick ideology, if you ask me."

"Pretty funny post, if you ask me! Welcome to FR"

Thanks much, it's a blast to be here.
