Saturday, the president, Dick Cheney, Colin Powell, Donald Rumsfeld and Condi Rice met with Pakistan's President Musharraf at the White House. Bush said, "We discussed international politics. I assured President Musharraf that there is an opportunity at hand to work toward the development of a Palestinian state and peace in the Middle East." He gave his radio address, saying, "We must do everything necessary to confront and defeat the terrorist threat, and that includes intelligence reform. By remaining focused and determined in these efforts, we will strengthen the safety of our citizens and defend our nation from harm." Vice President Dick Cheney will lead the US delegation to Afghan President Hamid Karzai's December 7 inauguration, the White House announced. The president went to the Army-Navy game in Philadelphia.

Sunday, the First Couple went to St. John's Church in DC. He presented awards at the 27th annual national celebration of the arts.

Monday: On an international level, Bush met with Iraqi interim President Ghazi al-Yawar; Jordan's King Abdullah II; and Senegal's President Abdoulaye Wade. On the national scene, he met with Dennis Hastert and Tom DeLay from the House of Representatives, and Senator Bill Frist, on Bush's proposal to overhaul Social Security. Laura Bush hosted Viviane Wade, wife of President Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal, for tea. The First Couple enjoyed time with some of our youngest citizens with a Children's Christmas reception and program in the East Room of the White House.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island!

I think as long as you are a member of the RNC, you ought to get one. I haven't done anything special to get one. Good luck!

**Does not the Vice Admiral look as if he should be aboard ship, bracing for a nor'easter, mates? Be still my heart! Those Naval uniforms ... **

Agreed, Gretchen. My husband has some pics of himself in Naval Dress and yes indeed...be still my heart!

Maybe it has to do with the fact that all my contemporary relatives who've gone into military service have joined the Navy ... I don't know, but something in me melts when I see a man in perfect dress uniform, and he's Navy.

But then, I am an absolute sucker for the sea. It's a good thing I live close to it. I think I'd go crackers if I had to be away from the salt air, sunsets on the Pacific, sea breezes, ships blowing their fog horns, the ocean's rhythms and how they speak to the cycles of life (to everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens), the feeling of great expanse and freedom imparted when viewing the massive, incomprehensibly massive, waters ... ah, the sea!

Great pics! I missed seeing any pics of the President at the Army Navy game, so these are great.

Doesn't Condi look smashing!

I bet it is killing Elton, Warren, Ossie & Ruby to get a medal from our guy, but it is an honor and they have to just stand there and take it. I love it.

Thanks for showing the Church pictures as there are those on FR who argue that the first family don't go to Church, thus aren't really Christians. (They know who they are!)

NOOOOOooooooo, only ONE picture of Barney a week???

I wanted to see daily pictures of interactions between Barney and Miss Beazley.

Who negotiated this contract anyway? Call them back and tell them it's a "do-over"!!!!

I protest. I want MORE Barney, not less.

Gosh, fame has gone to his head. Whatcha gonna do when someone just gets too big an ego?

Drats. No fair. I'm gonna have "Barney dt's". I loved checking out that guy on a daily basis. Phooey.

Truthie

Oh, and thanks Gretchen, for the Dose and all of the pics.

GO NAVY - can you tell? My team won on Saturday. Whoo-hoo.

I saw a news article about Elton, who had bashed W big time during the election (like he should be counted on for his opinion, being an American citizen, registered voter, and politico: NOT), and how he changed his tune (hehe) when it came time to stand in line for this award.

And get this. Warren and Annette dragged their buddies, John and Tarayzuh Kerry, to the WH with them to pick up these awards. Truly an In-Your-Face,-W, moment. It gave me the impression they were taking the Kerrys along to be garlic to W's supposedly evil influence.

Things are fine with me. Looking forward to being on holidays from next week over Christmas. Big family Christmas planned; probably going to be a very hot summer day. I mentioned on another thread the other day that as soon as the gardenias start blooming I know Christmas is not far away... BTW Thanks for the fab selection of photos today! :0)

GARDENIAS! Oh, they are so beautiful. One of my most favorite flowers. Do you grow them in your garden?

When I received my Christmas card today, it really felt like the Christmas season had arrived.

I get my tree Tuesday.

Can you imagine how thrilled this little girl was that she was the object of the cutest smile and sweetest touch from her President?
