The way FDA regulates medicines works perfectly ... er ... except for that Vioxx incident.

Of course nothing like that will happen with regard to bio-engineered crops. We can trust corporations and government officials with our lives ... NOT!

You're confusing us with facts here. Fear sells better. Ask Jeremy Rifkin.

There are people starving in Africa who could be fed by U.S. crops that EU bullying has prevented from being received there even as a gift. I am extremely unsympathetic to neo-Luddites on this issue.

"Even if plants and foods made with gene-splicing techniques were in some way fundamentally different from those made with less precise genetic technologies, the empirical evidence of their safety and acceptance would be persuasive."

FF, Have you eaten any of those purplish/pinkish tomatoes that are grown for sale. They are truly miserable when taste and texture tested against home grown beefsteaks. The price of progress? Peace and love, George.

I've never understood the "Frakenfood" controversy. That implies that the DNA of food somehow hurts you. Huh? I didn't turn into a cow by eating cow DNA.

The injected hormones and antibiotics, however, are a different matter...
