HOW DO WE ELECT DANGEROUS IDIOTS LIKE THIS?
The brain-dead, idiotic, disgusting, anti-American, childish, can't-get-over-it politician of the day is one Nelson Polite, a member of the Lancaster, Pennsylvania city council. Thankfully this jerk will rise no further up the political ladder. Even Democrats think he's a fool.
Polite is upset because of David Stoltzfus who runs a baked goods stand at the local city market. Stoltzfus has a picture of President Bush hanging in the stand. Polite is a Democrat. Polite made a trip to visit Stoltzfus to tell him that he and other Lancaster Democrats are "offended" by the picture of President Bush, and he wants it taken down immediately. Stoltzfus told him no. Now Polite says he is going to ask for a new city ordinance that would make the posting of any political material, including a picture of the President of the United States on city property illegal. Polite says "there should be rules."
Yeah ... in America there should be rules which prevent an American citizen from posting a picture of the President of the United States in his place of business.
Where do people like Nelson Polite come from?
Just in case you are someone who collects addresses of city council members from around the country, here's one you may be interested in.

Good luck with that whole 1st Amendment thing, Mr. Polite.
As an aside, is Stoltzfus the last name of everyone in Lancaster? I remember reading election stories about the Amish, and they would quote several different Stoltzfuses in the article.

Look up Roundheads. Religious civil wars have never long left us. Yet, so vicious among brothers are they that the aggregate social mind sprints to forget them, to erase them from memory.
And we are in a religious civil war. The State-sponsored Church of the God-Free versus all others.

Yeah ... in America there should be rules which prevent an American citizen from posting a picture of the President of the United States in his place of business. Not that I disagree with Boortz's opinion, just his logic. It may be the guy's place of business, but the article stated that it is on city property. Polite is wanting to ban political material on city property, not in individually-owned businesses.

Here is a letter (email actually) that I sent to that idiot.......
Subj: If it were a photo of John Kerry.......
that was placed in that store window, would you be raising the stink you are over a photo of President Bush? My guess, probably not. In fact, most likely not!
Has it ever occurred to you that he might just be a patriotic American that supports his President. Regardless of party affiliation? Have you taken the blinders off for a single minute to see that?
I must admit I am truly baffled at the Democrats lately. It is becoming increasingly more apparent to me that your party is attacking the very ideals that have shaped this country. You want to marginalize the institution of marriage by allowing homosexuals to "marry". You want any an all references to God removed from schools, books, judicial buildings, etc. What's next, forcing Christian Churches to take down crosses from their steeples? You are hell bent on weakening the security of our nation and are turning a blind eye to the blatant anti-American sentiments heaped upon us by that totally worthless institution, the UN. Our kids can't even pledge their allegiance to our country any more because of liberals like you! Our country bears no resemblence to what it did 50 years ago. And it is truly distressing. In fact it is absolutely infuriating.
I for one have always been a tolerant person when it comes to politics, but my tolerance is getting stretched very thin. And apparently so is the majority of the American voters, as evidenced by the results on Nov 2nd. The Democratic party had best quickly remove their heads from their collective asses before they find themselves totally overwhelmed by people that are just plain fed up with your party line and what you have come to stand for. That is the direction things are moving. You better wise up before the momentum becomes unstoppable.
I have an American flag flying outside my house 24/7, lit at night. It comes down once a year to be replaced. It flies at half mast on Memorial Day, Veterans day, December 7th or when I learn of the death of one of my buddies in Iraq. It was at half mast for 30 days for President Reagan. I have over 20 years of service to our military, reserves and active duty, and have been in three conflicts. Is that next? Liberals offended by the fact that I am showing my patriotism and my devotion to my state and country? God forbid we might offend someone who's origin of birth is not Red, White and Blue!
Sincerely,
Scott Murphy

there are 10 columns of Stolzfus's in the phone book (starting with "Christ")...and there are plenty more who don't have phones. Lapp, King, Zook, Fis(c)her and Beiler are other very common Amish surnames.
Overall, the most common surnames in this area are Myers, Weaver, Martin, Miller, Landis, Brubaker, Groff and Good.
OT, but some who dig geneology may find it interesting :-)

I'm a genealogist too.
Our family is unrelievedly British Isles - mostly Scottish and English, with significant strains of Scotch-Irish (Ulster Scots), bog-trotting Irish, and Welsh. One lone German ancestor way up the tree, from Pennsylvania back in the 1690s, rejoicing in the name of Maria Magdalena Vogelsang. Perhaps another German in the person of one Hansford D. Ott in Orangeburg SC.
