You'd never hear a Marine or REAL ARMY bitching like this out of the chain of command. The National Guard have no right to do this especially when they aren't even doing the heavy lifting. It's a slap in the face to all the other soldiers doing their job in harsh conditions without complaint.
Amen! And you'll never hear Sec. Rumsfeld say "That mofo Bill Clinton cut our military resources for eight years, cut 'em to the bone. We're doing everything we can to reverse the damage that ba$tard did to our country's defenses." Someone sure needs to say it!
News flash, Marines bitch too.

Saying that once was enough. You must be tryign to start a war here. From your about page JBlain

I don't think you have much experience in the military as a 21 year old marketing student. In my 32 + years in the guard, I have never gone out of my chain of command.
I guess that would depend on what ground rules were in place for the questions.
Rumsfeld did not have to do this in public, and orders certainly could have been issued concerning off-limit topics.
But if these guys were told that no topic was off limit, and the question was inappropriate, the fault lies with Rumsfeld.
And again it does not look like the soldiers were used by the reporter. It looks like a collaboration.
