KXXT is AIR AMERICA in Phoenix.

I love how Charles makes it out to be that he had "ideological differences" with Clearchannel... unless you consider that Clearchannel's ideology is that they don't want hosts with crappy ratings on their station.

He wrote an article “How to Lose Your Job in Talk Radio,” which was prophetic.... though he really lost it because of crappy ratings. After being moved from drivetime to the night time slot for crappy ratings.

Then, he moved to 1100 AM. He didn't last long - his ratings were in the toilet. Now he moved to Herr America.

Guess who Charles was interviewing this morning?

Al "Bodyslam" Franken.... and Scott "Burger King" Ritter.

What a putz.

Let us hope his idiotic conspiracy theories do the same thing for KXXT's ratings that it did for KFYI's.

Air America is also coming to Washington, DC's airwaves on WRC's AM-1260. The story is in today's Post.

I can't think of it happening to a better guy.

My problem with Goyette wasn't his opinion on Iraq, every American has their right to voice their political opinions, it was when he turned himself into a martyr at the hands of "Big Bad" Clear Channel Radio.

Clear Channel recognized, long ago, that folks are tired of the same old same old of talk radio, and established a certain editorial vision for their talk show hosts. It's equally their right to boot Goyette on his rear for his views, as a part of their editorial views.

If a editorial writer kept writing opinions that didn't jive with what the publisher and editorial board agreed with, they'd kick him out the door. That's the wonderful ways of a free press.

But the mainstream press seized on that as another change to kick around Clear Channel, and Goyette basked in the glow. He pouted and sulked when they bumped him to night time until they showed him the door.

And like another poster said, KFYI went to No. 1 in the market in that time frame when Goyette was demoted. Big shocker. Those who were turning into KFYI to hear conservative views don't want to hear Air America Lite.

Sorry Charles, best of luck with your new gig.

There are some distortions on the comments here. Goyette might not be a "conservative," but after listening to him for a few years I know that he is NOT a "liberal" on ECONOMICAL issues that have to do with concepts of limited government, the constitution, liberty in individualism, etc. I have heard him talk about how we should get rid of the minimal wage, eliminate welfare, cut taxation, cut government, cut regulation, and on and on. That does not parallel what liberalism is.

For ratings on KFYI, I don't have all the records to look back to see ratings, however, those that I have seen were actually good. He did not have bad ratings. If he did, then he would NOT have lasted 3.5 years on KFYI and they would NOT have extended his contract in the lead up to the war with a good increase in his salary. According to Goyette, he was moved to 7-10PM after he declined to change his view on the war with Iraq. With this said, they paid him a ratings performance bonus during this move (in accordance with his contract)! That alone proves that his ratings were not that bad after all. Goyette has admitted on his show a couple of times on KFNX that he finds it acceptable in a free-market place that he was fired on KFYI for his views, but that it was false to say that it was do to ratings. KFYI and its other hosts actively kicked down Goyette. KFYI moving to #1 overall does not give a complete picture from time frame to time frame.

Goyette was not fired on KFNX; he quit KFNX because he believes that KXXT will place him in a sold lineup reflecting a backlash against Bush's fiscal irresponsibly & problems with the war on terror, just like talk radio became a hit as a backlash against Clinton. I personally disagree with his move because I believe it will reflect badly on him, but that is his choice and I wish him luck.

Just make no mistake about it that Goyette is not a liberal. I just hope that he does not pander to them on KXXT, but so far so good because he was speaking against socialism.
