A Sign of Hope for Reporters in CIA Leak Case (PLAME/WILSON)
The Los Angeles Times ^ | December 9, 2004 | Richard B. Schmitt

Judith Miller, a reporter for the New York Times, and Matthew Cooper, Time magazine's White House correspondent, are contesting an October ruling by a federal judge that held them in contempt for refusing to cooperate with federal investigators looking into the outing of CIA operative Valerie Plame in July 2003.

~snip~

Cooper has been subpoenaed twice, agreeing to sit for a deposition and answer questions in August about conversations with a source who encouraged him to cooperate with Fitzgerald. Within days of that deposition, he was subpoenaed again to discuss what his lawyers described as "an expanded array of topics," triggering his objection and ultimately the contempt finding.

Matthews was going for the obscure absurd when he compared today's US media, to Ethiopian newspapers under Emperor Haile Selassie! And Matthews discussing the Valerie Plame leak without blaming Scooter Livvy was patently dishonest!

I think Matthews wanted to bathe himself in the reflected glory of a real journalist like Judith Miller. No doubt in my mind, Matthews would squeal like a stuck pig rather than go to jail for refusing to reveal a source.

Here's a good backgrounder on Matthews Cooper's insider status, ala his wife Clintonista Mandy Grunwald.

Cyncooper,

Hope you enjoyed your popcorn, and that you didn't fall asleep waiting for my reply.

If you read the entire thread, EllaMinnow wrote that they wanted to see Matthew Cooper of Time Magazine frogmarched for not cooperating with investigation into the CIA leak. I presume that Ella wanted Cooper frogmarched because Cooper is a MSM Lib. I simply pointed out that Novak was also involved with the leak, and by his logic should also be frogmarched.

I DON'T want to see Novak frogmarched.
