I just sent an email to Ben at his personal site - http://www.benstein.com/. "His" email address is 'BenStein@aol.com'. Please do me a favor and drop him a note. Hopefully one will get through. Mr. Stein is going to get a hard lesson in California gun law if he is not VERY careful. He has confessed in writing to breaking State law.
Dear Mr. Stein,
I am not a firearms dealer nor do I play one on TV. I am a fellow resident of the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia. I strongly suggest you speak to a gun dealer at your earliest opportunity. It is illegal in the State of Kalifornia to privately transfer firearms. You must work with an FFL and get the appropriate paperwork in place. The fees are nominal. It is a hard lesson for most otherwise law-abiding citizens who thought that they still lived in America, but our states gun laws are out of control. People who have a) never bought a gun or b) not bought one recently, have no idea of what has happened to their rights. I will leave it to the professionals to give you the complete specifics (one for instance is that all handgun buyers must complete a test and get a card saying so).
I enjoy your stuff and dont want to see how you look in grey stripes. Perhaps when this exercise is over it will warrant another column.
Just dont get busted.
Regards,
RKV
PS For reference please see - http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/pubfaqs.htm#7 3. What is the process for purchasing a firearm in California?

Hi guys, did you see this? I think one of our favorite personalities (Ben Stein) has a problem with the California DOJ Firearms Division. Being as he is a conservative in Beverly Hills I suspect he is a target. Regards, RKV
