Real Player, most prominently, is a small bastard with inferiority complex and delusions of grandeur, not too different from Napoleon.

Does this mean that they did not resign Ed Schultz?

Thanks for the tip, but at some point, I got so annoyed with how slow Adobe Reader was, that I googled how to speed it up. It really only involves removing or renaming the "plug_ins" folder and now it runs at least as fast as version 5. But the fact that they would have all of those plugins enabled by default and force the user to find ways to fix the issue still annoys me.

More on how Real Networks really sucks:

Real would resort to even more disgusting (and probably illegal) tricks. One page in the process would show the user some very legitimate choices above the "fold" (the bottom of the area of a web page that can be shown in a window without forcing the user to scroll). However, beneath the fold, Real had options for additional plug-ins with dubious value such as sound enhancers and web accelerators, that were selected BY DEFAULT. If a user did not scroll down (and the design cleverly did not signal to the user that they had any reason to do so) they would not see that there were choosing to purchase around $50 in additional software. Real told us that this page alone was responsible for driving their average order up by $25. They even told us that most people didn't even know they were buying the additional software. When we told them that we found these tactics user un-friendly, unsustainable, and bad for the brand, they agreed. But they also told us that they were "hooked on it like heroin!" and didn't want to change anything for fear of loosing revenue.

Real Proof

Good move. Friends don't let friends run RealPlayer; fundamentally it's spyware.

If you really must be able to play RealMedia streams, there is RealAlternative.

Figures. Only a bloated deluded liberal could design and market an overtly annoying product like Real Player.

Hair Amerika is the worst excuse for talk radio I have ever heard.

Lucky me. I've never heard it, being in central Indiana.

Pinging since you've indicated distaste (or worse) for RealPlayer.

See the replied-to post about RealAlternative. I've used it, it works for me. FYI. I haven't put RealPlayer on any of my systems for years.

I really wish people wouldn't use RealMedia streams, but sometimes, I want to see something that's only in that format.

Just uninstalled RealPlayer and related software. Fortunately now the streaming sites that I frequent give me a choice of players. I don't know any now that only use RealPlayer.

I've deleted realplayer from my 'puter.

Me, too, long ago. Didn't like the other crap (including spyware) that RP added to my hard drive. The fact that Maria Cantvotewell made XX millions in a few years from this company with no real management experience or business contribution added to my bias of the organization. Glaser was her primary mentor and political supporter.
