One of the best posts of the year, we would like permission to immortalize it on our own website - www.grassboots.org with your permission (and the administrators?)
Notice about half way down that it is illegal to harass these plants and animals also. Don't call them on the phone more than once, don't call them names, don't spend too much time hanging around them or telling off-color jokes around them.

At one of our city parks (Seattle) I've seen a sign that warns "Do not molest the ducks".
I wasn't aware that was even feasible.....

Had a friend who allowed some college student on his property. The kid thought he had found some "endangered" plant, while he was out looking around. Fortunately, he told the owner that he was going to have someone at the college identify for him, and would get back to him about it.
Soon as the kid drove away, he brought the D-6 Caterpillar over and stripped the whole area. Problem solved!
- Letting college kid wander your property - cost unknown.
- Cost of D-6 Caterpillar - $50,000
- Cost of 10 gallons of diesel fuel - $12.57
- Cost of look on lib professor's and kid's face upon return, to look at a "potentially"
new ESA discovery in his region PRICELESS!
