Grass-roots Democrats diss their own DNLC
Email discussion list ^ | 12/10/2004 | Michael Mandeville

This is what I hear. OUT is the DNLC (Democratic National Leadership Council)- the group which created Dukakis/Clinton/Gore/Kerry as our Demo. Presidential Candidates. This group is a creation of Democrats who hold office in Washington DC and the special interest lobbyists. This is an independent association of Democrats who dominate the National Party by default. This is the coordinating core for the "Republicrat" democrats.

Also OUT is the generation-long dominance of the Eastern Seaboard in controlling the Democratic National Party by controlling who is the Democratic National Chairman (who will be elected in February). Generally the DNLC dominates the choices. In other words, those who are closest to the "Eastcoast Bubble" and who tend to be wealthy white ivy league lawyer careerists East of the Mississippi who value their own electability to office more than any other issues, have controlled the DNC Chairman for the past 30 years.

From this I predict the following. Ivy league policy-wonk academic-speak lawyerly Democrats will not find the party a simpatico climb to office during the next several years. Democrats want red meat changes which do not sound like sociology theories, geewhiz lawyerisms, and economic halfaloafs (such as Kerry's proposed energy policy to "fund" research and maybe end up with a few hundred thousand electric cars in 10 years). From this it follows that the Clinton wing will dissipate slowly and Hillary Clinton will never win near enough primaries to become a candidate. She is too, well, New York, academic, moderate and gives no hint of being able to mediate the toughness of a new really alternative party into the ken of Democratic voters. She, after all, is a victim of the Hounds of Hell who ride the right wing circuits preaching bigotry. Democrats need Dragonslayers.

I especially like the characterization: "Ivy league policy-wonk academic-speak lawyerly Democrats" ... "who value their own electability to office more than any other issues."

Also, Hillary "a victim of the Hounds of Hell?" Some would argue that she _is_ a Hound of Hell.

Murphy's 5th rule of combat "Friendly fire, ain't"

Murphy's 6th rule of combat "Close down the Washington Post during a time of war."

No, this guy is dreaming -- basing his thesis on false assumptions. Harold Ickes will by Chairman, and he is the epitome of the slimy Eastern lawyer types.
