Prompted by a TV news investigation questioning whether Matthew Shepard's murder was an "anti-gay hate crime," the traditional-values group Focus on the Family asked NBC News to apologize for suggesting Bible believers were responsible for creating the "climate" in which the attack took place.

But NBC defended "Today Show" host Katie Couric for her questions in an an Oct. 12, 1998, interview with the then-governor of Wyoming, where the attack took place.

McCormick argued that in the days after the critically injured Shepard was found tied to a fencepost, "there was a great deal of speculation that the crime may have been motivated by hate."

So, I guess it's okay to take someone out, tie them to a fence post, and beat them to death as long as you love them??

Really, don't ALL crimes of this nature involve some kind of hate. I mean, if you like someone, chances are pretty good that you wouldn't kill them!!

Except for a football game every so ofter, I haven't watched broadcast tv for well over 20 years, I can't stand the commercials and the programming stiks.

I have not wathced any broadcast news since President Reagan left office. I wouldn't give those SOBs the time of day.

I am a second class citizen, a white, hetero-sexual, Christian male ummmm!!!! YOU SAID A bad WORD!! Hey George23IQ. Are you reading this (or having it read to you) (George HATES the word "white") c(º: If you read the FBI crime stats, homos "bash" straights at the same percentage rate that straights "bash" homos. If you continue reading, they batter each other at a rate considerably HIGHER than that at which straights assault each other and the rate at which they assault homos. Those homos who were born female are the most violent with a domestic violence rate of like 30-40%. So who is committing the "hate crimes"? And if they don't respect each other, isn't it a bit unrealistic to demand that others so do? http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/ucr.htm#hate http://rabble.ca/in_their_own_words.shtml?x=21148 http://www.vaw.umn.edu/documents/glbtdv/glbtdv.html#id2634286 http://traditionalvalues.org/urban/four.php http://www.chronwatch.com/editorial/2002-06-03c.asp

In the wake of Shepard's death in 1998, then-President Clinton urged passage of a federal hate crimes bill that would include sexual orientation as a protected class. The bill has yet to pass...

hmmm... almost as if...

-better worded: "The proponents of the bill have yet to realize their immoral efforts homosexual agenda will never gain acceptance."

Kouric looks suspiciously transexual, which probably explains the broad shoulder, the square jaw and the gay agenda.

If Katie Couric can speculate about who are haters and created an atmosphere that lead to Shepherd's murder, well, I can speculate too. I speculate that Katie Couric created a atmosphere of hatred by her approval of the hatred and defamation men, Christians, normality, conservativism and America, that the two low-lifes who murdered Shepherd felt empowered that they too could hate and act out their violent fantasies and take the life of an innocent young man.

Why is my speculation any less valuable than Katie Couric's?

I think that in general, the right has been remiss in not praising ABC News for thinking out of the box and actually reconsidering the Shepard killing.

All very valid points. Unfortunately those are the points that don't get out.

that is true! They have shown their own left side quite often, but that was a step up for them.

They just don't make sense. None. They can't.

Because the set of beliefs they must sign up with is senseless, irrational, internally inconsistent, vile, hodge podge, and based on nothing except some peoples' mental vagaries, they are sinking deeper and deeper into very deep doo doo that is reminiscent of quicksand.

It's like when someone tells a lie - in order to support it, more lies must be told. Then more lies to support those, and so on. That way lies psychosis.

They're about at the point where all they can say to support their belief system is "I BELIEVE! I BELIEVE! (And if you don't you are an evil person)."
