hey SheLion - I know you've had some computer problems of late (I'm in the same boat so I understand) but do you have access to the graphic of how much the government gets from a pack of smokes?Hey! I got a new computer and before I did, I had to burn all my info onto disks. And it's just taking me awhile to get everything back onto this new computer.
Is this the graphic you meant?

You are also a kool-aid drinker and have no clue what you are talking about.
You having a personal problem with kicking a habit is your problem, not that of the rest of society. Get over it.

I WAS BEING SARCASTIC!!!! Fooled ya!
Now you know how those of us who enjoy marijuana feel....after all, we are fighting for a "drug-free America", right?
I think it was back in 1996 (or '98?) when Congress passed a major anti-drug law, saying that they intended to make America drug-free by the year 2002......what a JOKE!
To: SheLion
That's exactly the graphic I was talking about!!!!!!!!
New computers are wonderful - but transfering all the data is a bain in the glutimous maximous!!!!!

Because nicotine is an addictive drug that kills over 400,000 people a year...I used to be a tobacco addict until a few years ago, & quitting was pure hell--even with the help of a patch!Wow! You fell for that phony number too! Pity! (It was pure hell to quit because you really enjoyed it).
What surprised me was the citation for the 53,000 figure: "U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, ETS Compendium, l986 data." I knew the "official" EPA number was 3,000, not 53,000, and according to such independent analysts as the Congressional Research Service, even the EPA estimate of 3,000 deaths appeared to be too high, given the available scientific data.

Not a good way to influence people and make friends.
Oddly, I've always been an advocate of State regulation of such things, not Federal. Not in their mandate, ie; the Constitution.

Analysts conclude it is likely proposed federal cigarette tax increases in the U.S. would have similar effects. Jesus H. Keeeerist, It takes a high paying analyst to convey this well known to (the peons) such a message to Congress?
This smells of elitism and control to say the least!

A perfect example of the law of unintended consequences. And 'they' just can't understand where they went wrong. Well, why don't they go after alcohol? I hate seeing teens drunk. I'd sure rather see them smoking.

Thank you, that explains everything I needed to know. Ex-smokers are the biggest health nazi's I've ever met. I'm glad you were finally able to quit, but the government forcing people to quit doesn't exactly have a stellar track record, yanno. People like you make me want to light one up every time I hear that...just because I can.
Like I said, glad you could quit...just please-try not to be so...gosh, words fail me.

I hope they do to tobacco what they did to marijuana: tax it out of the market like they did in 1937, & then make it illegal....a federal felony to grow or posess over a certain amount. They can tax it all they want. It's still a legal commodity. And when people like me roll a beautiful carton for under $8 dollars, and not pay into the state coffers any more, it's beautiful.

If a police officer smells cigarette smoke in someone's car, charge them for DUI & throw them in jail. You've got to be kidding me. Where do you come off with these views of yours?
What a load of bs.

I didn't mean a word about tobacco that I said...I just tried to make folks know what those of us who enjoy marijuana are going thru, that's all. It's only fair, isn't it?
To: GLDNGUN
Shouldn't the facts of this story say something about the futility of marijuana prohibition, & get the drug warriors like yourself to take notice?
GIVE UP!!!!!
