Thankfully, my immediate family includes some of the most antisocial people imaginable, so I usually don't run into that problem.

I have found the herb Echinacea helps me tremendously. It strengthens the immune system. I take two capsules a day for a week before holiday gatherings. Quit soon after for a week or so, then 2 weeks on again. Can't take it all the time.
I have even begun taking it after onset and it helps.
