Hollywood Foreign Press Association today failed to nominate Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" in any categories for its Golden Globes, which often forecast the race for the Academy Awards. Instead the group nominated another biopic for best drama: "Kinsey," which whitewashes sex researcher Alfred Kinsey's interest in pedophilia.
Also nominated for best movie drama: "The Aviator," starring Bush-bashing actor Leonardo DiCaprio; "Closer," starring Bush-bashing actresses Julia Roberts and Natalie Portman; "Finding Neverland," starring Bush-bashing actor Johnny Depp; "Million Dollar Baby," starring Bush-bashing actress Hillary Swank; and "Hotel Rwanda," about the African genocide that Bill Clinton and U.N. boss Kofi Annan did nothing to stop.
Nominated for best movie comedy or musical: "The Incredibles," "Ray," "Sideways," "Phantom of the Opera" and the tedious "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." Among the anti-Bush actors and actresses who received nominations from the small and obscure but powerful HFPA: Roberts, Swank, Depp, DiCaprio, Portman, Annette Bening, Ashley Judd, Renee Zellweger, Laura Linney and Meryl Streep. Noted conservatives nominated: zero, but libertarian-leaning Clint Eastwood did get recognized for directing "Million Dollar Baby."
The one bit of good news: HFPA finally stopped nominating the increasingly crummy Democrat fantasy series "The West Wing" in the television categories.
A shame really. Although they did do the right thing by "Deadwood" and Ian McShane. "Deadwood" is as good as, and is sometimes better than "The Sopranos", and McShane plays "Al Swearingen" to perfection. He's even sometimes better than James Gandolfini playing "Tony Soprano"

Hollywood Foreign Press Association -- the best of the Euro-weenies in Hollywierd. Why anyone pays attention to this group of ex-patriot cheese and snail munchering body waxers amazes me.

They also failed to nominate "Dodgeball" or "Envy" for best picture.
So what??

When they make a bad movie, or a movie that promotes liberal politics, I stay home. When they make a good movie that espouses the better things, I watch. I don't really give a **** about what an idiot cast member says; what matters is what the movie says.
I recommend highly anything Pixar has done. Some days, I think Roger Ailes got into the movie business. "Finding Nemo," for instance, is a wonderful assertion of the value of a family. (National Review just today caught onto its pro-life orientation.) I don't give a rat's @$$ that Ellen is a DeGeneret.
You're missing the point. By supporting these actors with your hard earned money, you help provide them the bully pulpit from which they spout all the things that are anathema to conservatives.
A boycott is what I'm advocating here.
The TEDIOUS Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? I just saw this Friday and I loved it. At least it made you think, not like most of the crap they put out these days.
The only votes that matter are at the box office.

If Hollywood takes its cue from the Golden Globes and Cannes regarding "Kinsey" or "Farenheit 9/11" for Best Picture. As opposed to "The Passion Of The Christ".
Hollywood will be cutting its own throat. And suffer a HUGE financial downward spiral from those pesky "Red States".

No, it's the producers, the award shows and the Hollywood-obsessed TV shows (like E! or ET) that give them their platforms. None of those groups care how much money a movie took in. Actresses like Julia Roberts don't make movies like "Full Frontal" for the money.

Full Frontal, $2.2 million (for a movie with Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts)

Sex Lies and Videotape, $24.7 million

Wild at Heart, $14.5 million
Wild Orchid, $11.1 million
Hideous Kinky, $1.2 million
Now look at the most famous "flops" in my lifetime:

The Postman, $18 million
Cocoon: The Return: $19 million
So who gave Martin Scorcese such a platform for his movie? People paying for tickets? No, Entertainment Tonight, People, CNN, etc. Boycott those shows. When a star or a producer actually makes something good, reward them for doing good.
... I should mention that some flops were hardly even flops: Waterworld made $81 million, and DIck Tracy made $101 million!
