For about thirty minutes in 1999, it looked like McCain might be a serious presidential candidate. I thought about the prospects and firmly rejected him as an option for my vote at the time. He's way to farking independent and its a shame to say it, but the years as a POW made him a hero but not a politician in the party sense of the word. I don't think that either party could count on his loyalty for more than one vote.

but the years as a POW made him a hero ... Probably so. But that doesn't make him a military strategist or planner. He needs to retire, we won't be able to kick him out here in Az..

One evening I was watching John McCain deliver a speech on C-Span. As he began my phone rang and I muted the TV. I was stunned to watch him without the sound. He is a very strange individual. This was around the same time that he challenged W for the nomination. After watching McCain I thought there is no way on earth that I could ever support this man. I honor his service to our nation, but I don't honor or respect him as a politician.
