Whew. I was holding my breath, scanning the article, and I didn't see "Merry Christmas" or "Christmas carols" anywhere. I was afraid the school had done something wrong.

Have you read it? I have. The conclusion is that there is no organized, widespread satanic cult activity and that almost all reports of "ritual abuse" are bogus.

There is exactly one conviction for this that has stood up to appeals, and it's questionable. ONE! You're talking like this is some sort of widespread problem. ONE CONVICTION where the perpetrators are still in jail. All the others have resulted in the release of the supposed offender because the evidence was improperly obtained through defective interviews of the children.

Oh, there are some satanists out there. Not very many, but a few. They aren't killing babies, though, or even children. Most are posers in black clothing.

No such murderous cults actually exist.

Local school officials in a suburb of Houston, Texas, are investigating how it was possible that a school police officer handed out calendars to students that featured explicit details on satanic and sexual rituals for every day of the month.

Sheeeeeesh,......next they'll be passing out T.V. guides for the NEA!

I agree with you there.

I don't think it is widespread.

It isn't like Wicca, where you can find a coven pretty easily. Of course, wiccans are good people even though as a Christian I believe they are hell-bound. They aren't like the satanists.

And if a satanist does sacrifice, except for maybe a rare instance, it will be sacrifice of a pet or something, not people.

You seem to believe there are no satanists

How exactly did me saying up the thread that "Obviously there are SOME crimes...including murder, and some serial muderers...associated with people who call themselves SatanistsIn the grand scheme of things there really aren't that many of these" become me saying there are NO Satanists?

It's really difficult to have these arguments over various bad things being exaggerated because people claim that those saying a given threat is exaggerated are actually saying that threat doesn't exist.

The Hillside Strangler (Ramirez?) claimed to be a Devil Worshipper. There was an incident in Maryland where this girl got a couple of her guy friends to kill her Dad with a sword and apparently they'd dabbled in Satan worship.

And there are thousands of people in the country who may claim to be Satanists, etc. Who basically do nothing besides the Mass with an upside down cross.

The problem with the Satan Scare nutjobs is their claims there are these large scale (Dozens of people) Satanic Cults all over the place out there eating babies and taking over day care centers and having sex with all the children and whatnot. The evidence for that is nil. When it's demonstrated the evidence is nil, the nutjobs start claiming that people in government and law enforcement are part of the cults and covering it up.

Second only to the Satan Scare industry is the Christian-Fundamentalist-Evangelical Scare industry.

It might be better to describe these groups in terms of volition and faith.

There are elect and the fallen, angels and man, Satan being a fallen angel who seeks worship and is also referenced as the malevolent deceiver.

There is enmity between the seed of Eve and the Devil, which is an attribute ingrained into all man.

There are those who naturally have chosen to not recognize God and still have a natural enmity towards Satan. There are those who through faith in Christ continue to grow in their sanctification through Him. They also have enmity to Satan, but generally are focused more upon God through faith in Christ.

There are those who are criminal, who might be fallen Christians or even an independant Satanist, but in either case thinking, deciding and acting criminally as creatures with independent volition.

There also is a group of men, as creatures, with volition, who have chosen to worship Satan instead of God through Christ and will even deceive themselves into calling Satan as their god. This later group might be colloquially referenced as Satanists.

Satan, however, in many respects doesn't promote criminal behavior. He seeks to promote a counterfeit cosmos to the creation and plan of God. Accordingly, the Satanic system as a cosmic system, in many ways is very, very legalistic.

In order to discern between good, evil, gangs, criminals, Satanists, other groupings and the public in general, one first needs to find a righteous relationship with God, which only He provides. Otherwise, law enforcement is merely limited to enforcement of written codes, regulations, legislation, and policy. Law enforcement officers not clear on these issues may enforce laws, which result in moral degeneracy as well as promoting Satanism without realizing some types of behavior lacking criminality still promotes evil.

The article appears to describe a calendar which notes occultic rituals common in Satanism.

There is a discernible difference in our culture today and that of America 70 years ago. One of these differences includes the widespread proliferation of occultic methods becoming less and less hidden and more encouraged. I suspect there were other forms of similar occultic activity 70 years ago, but institutions of righteous faith seem to be more entrenched into worldly or cosmic schemes today in this generation than in past generations.

I also IMHO believe there may be disciplinary actions to Christians and the nation losing a divinely favored status as a consequence of those differences.

I suspect many of the consequences to such widespread occultic activity isn't obvious to Americans, in part, because we have inherited a more rightous nation from our forefathers.

Such consequences probably will include things that are supernatural, but evil rather than divinely good.

For those who are agnostic or atheistic, they are dead to spiritual things of God, but not dead to the consequence of creatures acting independently of God, to include fallen angels and fallen man.

IMHO, one benefit and blessing of having righteous forefathers is protection from evil supernatural behavior. We might very well be exposed in this generation and younger generations to some very heinous consequences, not foreseen by those who have enjoyed the blessings passed to a nation because of a few righteous preceding generations.

Gee...who would have thought we'd have such august defenders of Satanism on this forum?
Those of you who homeschool don't have to worry about "mistakes" like the one made in Pearland. I guess the schools have moved on to this dubious anti-gang program after the DARE anti-drug program turned out to be worthless...just more "feel good" taxpayer-funded substitutes for learning the basics that schools lard their schdules with.

"September 20th is a 'midnight host' whatever that is," said one unidentified parent reading from the calendar. "You should have a blood-type ritual. September 23rd is the fall equinox – you should have an orgy. Activity group sex, any age, any sex."

I feel cheated. I went to a public school system in what was supposedly a good neighborhood, but I don't recall receiving any educational materials such as what students are receiving in Pearland.

No! You think?

Sure sounds like it. They need to do a really good check on that cop's background and current activities.... And if he's married and has kids they (and their friends) need to be talked with....

Re # 49

Years ago on a Halloween night, some friends and I went to a place that was rumored to be a place where rituals took place. Turns out the rumors were true. There were folks out there up to no good. Scared us half to death. Next day we did some research on Satanism and what we learned was even scarier. This stuff is not to be messed with.

I won't even drive by the place in the daytime anymore.

The officer said he got the packets from a anti-gang training course he took. Officials say he neglected to take out the adult material. The police officer remains on duty pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

So - if the materials in question were Christian literature espousing faith and obedience to Jesus Christ as a way out of violence, would the officer still be on duty?

I guarantee that I, as a teacher in a public school, would be summarily terminated if I handed out similar materials. Yet somehow the resource officer in this case is not getting much more than a glance over this.
