I have yet to receive a return call from the author of the memo, Donna Crawford, Assistant Superintendent Elementary Education, asking if the same official respect has been accorded Christmas, as a Christian holy day.

Christmas has no requirements regarding fasting, prayer, etc., that would impact the school day, so it's not a parallel situation.

I say organize the parents and kids to bring all of the Christmas paraphernalia they like, and just dare the schools to do something about it.

"Schools may also support Muslim students by arranging a place for prayer.

This is not only a disgrace to Christian parents, but there's a probable law suit in the above sentence.

The NEA is indoctrinated. Hate everything that is basic American Christian, and keep preaching endlessly about diversity and multiculturalism. Everything is fine but Christianity which is a zero-tolerance zone for the NEA.

What is it going to take for parents to do a mass exodus and private or home school their kids?

Ramadan moves back two weeks every year on our calendar. The Ramadan a ding dong all things being equal crowd is really going to look like the fools that they are when it hits during the summer.

Really? We are not meant to pray before each meal and before the start of the school day?

Sounds like they need a new bible thumping group over there.

The official school line usually is that respecting Muslim holidays is cultural, while respecting Christian holidays is establishing religion. Go figure.

So separation of church and state doesn't apply if the religion has strict rules of adherence like Islam?

If kids, on their own free time, wanted to do a "See You At The School Flag Pole" prayer rally, the school would disband them for giving the appearence of endorsing relgion.

Wait, it is a parallel situation. Most school districts give kids a Christmas vacation as well as Easter Vacation, no?

The basic problem is very simple ~ these school officials are under the certainly erroneous impression that should they look at Moslems cross-eyed they'll get shot.

Christians just don't have that reputation.

Since school officials only respect power, it's undoubtedly time to sue them individually and as a group for this sort of nonsense. Remember, the school district may have the "deep pockets", but if your objective is to chastise stupid school district officials, you have to go after their own fortunes and property, however little they might be.
