I have been on a few poker runs and for most of the people its not just a card at every stop but a drink or two and then more at the party at the finish. Many people leave drunk and its suprising more people are not killed.
I've been on a few poker runs, too, but none of the stops included bars. Heck, I'll admit to having had a beer or two over lunch and then getting back on my bike. It's not the smartest thing to do, but I wasn't intoxicated or even close to it. I've never ridden with a BAC anywhere near what this guy had, nor would I ever try. I'd sleep it off in the parking lot before I'd do that.
Cops + Excessive alcohol + motorcycle + speed + no helmets = Death by stupidity. Darwin triumphs again. Did y'all notice that the bar was a cop's hangout (apparently)? Who investigated the accident? More drunks? Are there such people as alcohol-free cops? Scary thought!
