I'm allergic to cats, am I destined to never be a true FReeper??

My sister-in-law says that she is allergic to cats. I've noticed that she can come over with no problems until she sees the cat. Then the hacking and coughing and sneezing and wheezing start. I never heard of a visual allergy before.
