Unholy Alliance
by David Horowitz
Hardcover - (September 2004) - $27.95

In this tour de force on the most important issue of our time, David Horowitz, confronts the paradox of how so many Americans, including the leadership of the Democratic Party, could turn against the War on Terror. He finds an answer in a political Left that shares a view of America as the ?Great Satan? with America?s radical Islamic enemies.

Thanks very much!  I'm sure it's a great one...everything else that I've read from David Horowitz has been 'essential stuff', as well as being well-written and engaging.  Although many Conservative authors are brilliant and have important ideas to share, not all of them are truly excellent writers.  Mr. Horowitz can always be counted on for great ideas as well as a captivating read.

Isn't it funny, how a best-selling author and widely respected scholar-at least, while he still toed the Marxist line established by the tenured radicals who held sway over academe-has suddenly become a pariah?

I wonder if it has something to do with David Horowitz's exposure of the intellectually bankrupt left, whose adherents have used all of the dirty tricks at their disposal in order to suppress this man's freedom of expression.

In Mr. Horowitz's case, this is exactly what happened.  He goes into some detail on this subject in his ESSENTIAL work Radical Son

Another great book, which details the same type of harassment experienced at the hands of the Marxist cadres hunkered down in the ivory tower, was written by one of Horowitz's colleagues, Ron Radosh.

"Commies" provides some great insight into this nefarious world of back-stabbing, ideological litmus tests-that only apply to conservative thinkers, of course-and the general insanity of the system of higher education that prevails on most college campuses today.

Sounds like one that needs to be added to the list  :-)

Yes.

It is a great read.

There are a lot of pop cultural references in there-apparently, Radosh at one point was on speaking terms with people like Bob Dylan and Joan Baez-but for the most part, it focuses on his gradual but irreversible estrangement from his fellow-travelers in the academy.
