Patton slapped two men who chicken-shitted out and this did NOT bother the front line troops as my Grandfather was one of them. In fact, one of these guy's father even thanked Patton for setting his boy straight.
During the Civil War, these men would have been shot. So a slapping is nothing compared to death. As my Grandpa said, Patton was a mean Son-of-a-bitch, but I was glad he was on our side and that I was serving under him, because he was the only American Commander that the Germans truly feared.
