For the record, hippies notwithstanding, we are actually still in the Age of Pisces that began about 500 AD. The vernal equinox will not pass into Aquarius until around 2600 AD. The New Age cults believe themselves the tip of the next Age, and so that's why they talked about entering the Age of Aquarius.

PS. The Piscean Age is supposed to be an Age of intuitive spiritualism, and the Aquarian of technological innovation.

Some join because they gain power and acceptance among others like them who refuse to respect authority. And others join so they can have sex with girls who would never give them the time of day without the foreplay of rebellion.

Just damn.

Among the most pathetic sights of our time are geezer hippies:

My aunt thinks Hitchens is the sexiest man alive. I don't have much of an opinion on that issue, but he is a good writer, although I prefer his brother Peter.

Yikes boy can I ID w/that - you'd be surprised how many of these aging hippies, complete w/thin glasses & pulled-back-straight, long ponytails (often w/receding & receded hairlines, even less attractive), there are in a military plant. Hypocrites?

THANK YOU!

I was pretty sure about THAT, altho I was only born when that Religious Event occurred.

All 1 has to do is observe - what hippie-dom was really about was being selfish and self-centered and hedonism. They didn't want to go to war, but they *did* like the idea of sitting on their a$$es doing nothing but screwing and "smoking". That's as selfish as I ever heard. And the pot calling the kettle black - the *gaul* to say every1 *else* was so "selfish" & "greedy", et al!

Then you were truly independent, Bill! You just liked the look. That's OK. We can accept that. ;-)

But you just have to excuse us when the truth is that was the look of a whole "movement" so it's hard to dissocciate w/the latter!

LOL! Oh my!

They must've been so jealous that they were "born too early" for the Great Hippie Revolution!

Oh well, at least they give us a snapshot of what the average left-over hippie will look like in 20 years. (Altho they *do* seem better-dressed and scrubbed than your average hippie. I guess some cultural norms from the Silent Generation never die off.)

Some of them even have jobs at execs in the Fortune 500. Notice how you never see photos taken between 1968 and say, 1980, of most execs?

My Dad is a Silent who was "born too early" - but somehow, it never stopped him from becoming a Hippie. Although, in the day, he was more the pothead than the L-taker. He also played around with downs. The self medicating mentality was and still is there, including the en vogue anti depressants, but he no longer tokes or takes any serious meds. [Just a note, my own prescription history includes a couple of rounds of anti biotics over the span of nearly 40 years; outside of some teen partying, drinking and a few herbaceous items, I have been pretty anti drug ...]. Outside of the drugs were the enounter groups, the nudist colony that also happened to have massage, and the extreme Left politics. He is really into the whole anti Bush thing in an International ANSWERish sort of way, it's amazing we still speak.
