He said he would "maintain strict discipline in spending tax dollars."

Maintain?!

The first step is to admit you have a spending problem.

Not to doubt President Bush but politicians have been saying this for generations.

I'll believe it when I see it. I hope he succeeds.

Here's the problem: Bush will propose one tight budget and the GOP will throw a huge party about how they are changing the tone of Washington. Here are some numbers to chew on before we even think about using fiscal conservative and GW Bush in the same sentence:

Discretionary Spending: Bush Presidency (% Increase from FY2001-2004) = 39.9%

Non-Defense Discretionary Programs in Outlays: Bush Presidency (% Increase from FY2001-2004) = 33.0%

Net Worth of U.S. Government (From Treasury’s 2003 Financial Report):
2003 = $-7,105,000,000,000
2003 Plus 75-Year Social Security and Medicare Liabilities = $-34,825,000,000,000

If we want someone who will take serious steps to take on spending in Washington, we should support Gov. Mark Sanford for President in 2008: http://draftsanford.cjb.net/

Rin Tin Tin could cut the deficit in half and have the rest for lunch.

It's a great start.

I wish him all success. This is something that I had hoped would start quickly after the election, and it appears that it will be so.

President Bush can go into history as one of our greatest presidents if he can cut our spending, reform our tax system, build our missile defense, and reform our Social Security Ponzi scheme. Even if he gets two of those, it will be fantastic -- and with a Republican House and Senate, let's all hope that he can accomplish as much as humanly possible.

Even I can cut the Federal budget. Big Deal Pass everything over to the States to take care. I wish he would authorize us to handle border patrolling.

If they would simply freeze all spending for a decade, we'd have a large surplus within a few years.

We don't want a surplus. Rin Tin Tin would eat it all right away, and Lunchmeat, too. Lunchmeat is the neighbor's stupid mutt.

I guess the foreigners have quit buying bonds, so he has to do something before the dollar collapses. He may be able to jawbone this for a while, but without follow through he's headed for Hoover revisited.

Save Social Security BY;..
Reducing the entire federal government by HALF...
Use the expenditures(money) for Social Security..

Then go through Social Security recipients with a means based program to allow ONLY destitute old people to recieve it.. all others dropped like a hot rock..

mis·un·der·es·ti·mate
intransitive and transitive verb make too low an estimate: to make an estimate of something that is too low • Democrats misunderestimated the President.

It is not the President that spends the money, it is the Congress. And as long as the Democrats still infect Congress we will continue to see spending climb.

Why would you ever blame President Bush for this out of control spending?
