Alison Krauss & Union Station will be the Sunday afternoon headliner at Merlefest 2005, I think on May 1st. If you're within a 500-mile radius of western NC, go! Ricky Skaggs and Jerry Douglas among many others will also perform, including one of my all-time favorite groups, the Del McCoury Band. You'll want to pass on Tim O'Brien, though....

She's the best Bluegrass band around. I was at her first appearance at the Grand Old Opry. She's a fine fiddle player and a good singer.

I'm listening to "Down in the river" right now.

She is truly amazing.

Lucky man! Go and enjoy. They are not travelling anywhere within about 2000 miles from me (wonder why?) Other than a group no one on here has every heard of, Alison Krauss is my favorite singer.

I sometimes promote bluegrass and alt-country concerts, and brought Alison and the band in last year...$50,000 before production expenses...but the show sold out.

What you'll get is a great night of acoustic music and a few corny jokes...no politics. Alison's banjo player, Ron Block (who also plays guitar) is a devout Christian...they're all salt of the earth people...Alison, Barry Bales (bass), Dan Tyminski (guitar), Jerry Douglas (dobro).

Got the concert...you won't regret it.

Alison & the band played at an outdoors bluegrass festival here in Augusta, GA several years ago just when the big hits were flowing onto the country charts.

They played during a rainstorm and the audience stayed and cheered. They were absolutely terrific! The musicianship was outstanding. You could really tell that the band members were a tight-knit and friendly group.

I have been to many concerts over the years and rank this as one of the best.

In December of '79, Harry Chapin sent his band home early for Christmas and played solo for us for over 3 hours in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was a riot. (Please no knocks on Harry...may he Rest in Peace).

I fill in on as host of a bluegrass show periodically. I play her tunes and get great response.

Many of our listners wouldn't vote for a Republican, yet they are morally conservative.

Well, ok, they get trashed, but they went to church Sunday morning.

The fact that you don't know is a good sign. I don't care what her politics are as long as she keeps singing. If she stops singing and starts pontificating about matters political, then I might have a problem.

What I do know is that when she sings, she has my undivided attention.

She's a member of the PEOPLE FOR THE AMERICAN WAY. She donated something to their online auction last month. Hope this helps you.

The fact that you don't her politics speaks volumes. As long as her politics are reasonably private, as they would seem to be since you had to ask, why would you care?
