I just came from the Celebrex thread.

My wife had been on Vioxx when they pulled that drug.
She and other women in her office realized they had been experiencing some of the heart problem symptoms from the Vioxx.
Dr. put her on Celebrex (the 400mg that causes 2.5x the heart & stroke problems as apposed to the 2x of the Vioxx).
Last night wife said maybe she should go back to Aleve!

All the prescribed drugs for arthritis have bad side affects, some worse than others. NONE of them promote healing.

Got arthritis?, try the glucosamine, MSM, vit C, + other stuff in liquid form. Health food store, grocery store or feed store. Doesn't work for all types of arthritis but if it does it will actually promote healing.

Why not try the Healing Touch (or whatever the heck they called it), or maybe taking a trip to Lourdes?

Beg to disagree. In that they are antiiflammatory, they decrease the inflammation that causes further wear and tear to the joints. Glucosamine works for some but it isn't a heal-all, and most other supplements that purport to help arthritis are just placebos. Don't get me going on the fraud committed by the supplement industry against the elderly.

There's a drug used by vets that is supposed to be available for human use soon - Adequan. Our dog has osteoarthritis in his back and our vet just started him on it. So far, it is starting to work well and we have high hopes it will give him back a good quality of life. It apparantly is a highly active form of glucosamine, one that is supposed to bind to damaged cartilage and replace joint fluid. If it actually works the way it is supposed to, it will go a long way in helping alleviate the root cause of back/joint pain instead of just masking the symptoms.
