WHEELING - More than a quarter-ton of packaged cocaine was reportedly seized from the wreckage of a twin-engine aircraft that crashed near the Wheeling-Ohio County Airport over the weekend.

Law enforcement officials are searching for the alleged pilot of the Piper Aerostar aircraft, who they identified as Eugene Nicholas Cobbs, no age listed, of Los Angeles. The initial investigation of the abandoned aircraft Sunday yielded around 327 pounds of cocaine stowed in the passenger seating area.

Additional cocaine reportedly was found Monday during the Federal Aviation Administration's investigation hidden in the nose cone of the aircraft, bringing the total weight of the cocaine seized by the Brooke County Sheriff's Department to around 520 pounds. One of the packages of cocaine was reportedly found wrapped as a Christmas gift.

The story reads like a movie script. A comedy movie script.

<< alleged pilot

Just wondering, how could one be an "alleged pilot?" >>

Stand in any of the world's airport's "fingers" long enough and around 85% of the pilot-costumed persons who walk by to and fro' their various employers' aircraft and who sit in the pointy bit at the front in those positions once reserved for Pilots, will fit that description to a "T."

These are the ones who, after pushback and once having set the aeroplane in motion at the gate, will, unless it just killed and/or otherwise incapacitated them, spend the rest of the leg reacting to what it just did.

The other 15% -- the Pilots, that is -- will have spent or be on their way to spend their working day ahead of the aircraft, anticipating and directing its every move.

One of the packages of cocaine was reportedly found wrapped as a Christmas gift.

The gift that keeps on giving? Or was this the special gift for that man that has everything?

Because the guy listed as the owner or person who filed flight plan may not be the guy who crashed the plane.

That's the scary TRUTH.

Yes, it is!

That put me in mind of Kennedy.
He got his ticket right up the road from me, and he was a typical product of the instruction mills. Looked very spiffy.

On another board, I had posted the reasons that led to the death of Kennedy and his passengers
.
A left Coast liberal lawyer (that just rolls of the tongue) replied that he had looked up the accident report and wrote that Kennedy was legal to fly. (no IMC forecast)

My reply? "Art, he's still dead."

Legal to fly, indeed. Not anymore...

Authority! Make the aircraft do what you want it to.

Remember quidam's "Coke is it..." thread? I can't find it right at the moment, but there is this: If 'Coke is it'....
