They were certainly a chore but they sure did smell fresh after they were laundered and they made the baby so snuggly, unlike the plastic they use now.

Amen to that......there's nothing like sun-dried on the clothes line 100% cotton diapers. We used the disposables for night time and long car trips but I just could never get into putting synthetic plastic next to my babies' butts on a regular basis.

Disposables came out around 1976-77 which is when I was using cloth. When we could afford a box of them we would buy one and use it just for trips or outings.
