Spread in gay magazine lists accomplishments; Avis also vies for gay dollar
Its important to give credit where its due. So car buyers should know that Subaru takes its role as the most pro-homosexual car company very seriously.
In fact, the company bought a four-page, four-color pullout section in the December 21, 2004, The Advocate magazine, surrounding a celebration of 11 People of the Year selected by the magazine since 1990. Honorees include V. Gene Robinson (December 23, 2003), the homosexual Episcopal bishop; Rosie ODonnell (January 21, 2003); George Michael (January 19, 1999), following Michaels arrest for lewdness in a Beverly Hills restroom, and former Gay and Lesbian Task Force leader Urvashi Vaid and the late artist Robert Mapplethorpe (both December 18, 1990). Note: Vaids book was endorsed by presidential and vice-presidential advisor Mary Matalin, and Mapplethorpe is known for his homoerotic, X-rated images that engulfed the National Endowment for the Arts in controversy.
As for Subaru, the fourth page includes this summary:
Subaru of America celebrates ten years of support for the gay and lesbian community.
First national automaker to sponsor the Human Rights Campaign
First automaker to extend domestic partner benefits to all employees
Featured on The L Word [Showtimes lesbian drama]
Recipient of the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Centers Corporate Leadership Award
First automaker to insert custom creative in gay media
Founding sponsor of the Rainbow Endowment, whose Visa Rainbow Card has raised more than $1.5 million for health, civil rights and cultural causes
Sponsor of numerous gay and lesbian cultural and athletic events
Presenting sponsor of the 2004 AIDS LifeCycle.
Sample ads from past campaigns are pictured, including one with a photo of a Subaru wagon with the slogan above it: Its Not a Choice. Its the Way Were Built.
In 2001, all three major domestic auto companies General Motors, Ford and Chrysler adopted domestic partner benefits, with Ford earning a 100% rating this year from the Human Rights Campaign as one of the most gay-friendly companies in the U.S.
Not to be outdone, Avis, the rental car agency, purchased a two-page, inside cover ad in the January/February OutTraveler, a companion edition to Out magazine. The ad shows a man with his arms around another man, kissing him on the cheek, with this text:
For over a decade, Avis has automatically included domestic partners as additional drivers in the U.S. No extra fees charged, no questions asked. And now, were coming out in grand style, including domestic partners as additional drivers internationally. So go ahead, take a spin.
While voters are moving to strengthen marriage laws, and parents are fighting to keep homosexual propaganda out of the schools, many of Americas corporate titans have gone pell-mell for the rich, niche, homosexual market. In fact, the Human Rights Campaign calls corporate America the driving wheel of homosexual activism.
Except for Philadelphia, where preaching the Gospel on the street gets you arrested on a felony hate crime, America is still a free country, so consumers should be aware of companies extracurricular activities when deciding where they spend their money.
You can also respectfully let companies know how you feel about their sponsorship of homosexual activism. It helps the most to contact local dealers, but its also good to contact the company.

Car maker wants to alienate itself from 95% of potential car buyers?...probably not the brightest marketing strategy...
Odd thing, though: they don't make anything with rear drive. Lots of "Subaru Socialists" out here. Not everyone who drives one is a leftie, but the over/under on getting hurt or seriously killed by a drunk in an F350 dually, or by hitting an elk, cow, or deer, is about 7 years. I won't even RIDE in one of the little tin deathtraps.
Homosexual car?
Spontaneously rear ends other cars. Like an audi.
Buy a Volvo or Saab and plaster "W '04" and NRA stickers on it.
Full Disclosure: With the pickup, people will assume you've just broken up and are trying to saddle yourself a cowboy...
Don't tell me he's a closet gay... (!!)
GMC Van - 229,000 - another 200,000 should be possible
Pontiac Firebird - 178,000 - will keep for life
Pontiac Bonneville - 129,000 - should be broken in soon
No engines never rebuilt - just change the oil every 3k
Love my GM's
1.2 million
First off, Sub is paying Lance and as for gay.....

There is no Christian morality in capitalisim. Whatever sells your product and provides for the bottom line is good.
"I just traded in a Subaru Forrester."
My aunt, who had owned 3 Camry's before, bought a Forrester. She said how much she loved her new vehicle. One day the other managers at her place of work called her to go to a window over looking the parking lot.
Her new Forrester was in flames. She doesn't smoke so it wasn't a case of a misplaced cigarette. Subaru could not explain it. She took her settlement and bought another Camry.
I constantly had oil leaks. The first 2 I had repaired by the local dealer. The 3rd and 4th a dealer in a much larger city because I had lost confidence in the local guys. I no longer think it was their fault.
Now wait a minute there, mate! Paul Hogan is one of the most decent men in show business, Hollywood or not; he has been married to Linda Kozlowski (his Crocodile Dundee co-star) for fourteen years, and has sworn never to have another actress play his love interest onscreen.
Yep. Just think imagine how many sodomites they've help kill off! And they are proud of it too!
Dumb & pointless facts to know and tell...
Eeew. I was considering the Outback wagon for all the reasons you mentioned. (It is AWD not 4WD) But not after this article.
I have a huge BUSH CHENEY sticker on the back of it.
There are no cowboys within a couple of thousand miles of where I live, on the East Coast. But there are a lot of pretty blonde ladies d'un age certain driving monster F-350 V-8 diesel duallies to pull around their six- or eight-horse stock trailers. We don't do it to find husbands; most of us are realistic enough to have given up on finding anyone to marry us and have thrown ourselves into the world of horses as a substitute.
Warning: Always a bad idea to use the words "horses," "husbands" and "substitute" in the same sentence. Use of the word "dressage" in such instances is highly suggested.
It really has been a great car. I have put 70,000 miles on mine in the last three years and have not had a bit of trouble from it; it handles beautifully, with reflexes good enough to have saved my life on a couple of occasions; the engine is powerful and has very energetic acceleration; the gas mileage is excellent; the cargo capacity turns out to be greater than a Chevy Blazer or Ford Bronco. You cannot pull much with it. It has very high safety ratings. The ventilation system sucks. Lots of people who have Subarus drive them for a quarter of a million miles. And the competition--the Audi, Volvo, and Volkswagon wagons--cost in the low to mid thirties, about ten thousand dollars more. You have to decide whether it's worth ten thousand bucks to you to avoid having the neighbors suspect you're a secret liberal or lesbian.
I think I'll just get the Jeep.
