Interesting snippet of an article. This is the largest earthquake in recent times with the most available seismographs to evaluate. It also affected an entire subplate. Thus there is little historical data to finalize which way it is going. However, more times than not, the aftershocks tend to finish releasing pressure, therefore the possibility of another monster is very slight. Aftershocks for "normal" large quakes can last for years and on an equivalent scale. I'm more excited about the continued, rapid growth of the dome of St. Helens.

I checked my plantlife for signs of life today and so far they all appear dormant (thankfully). There are signs deer were checking them out too. Those creatures seem to know when we are sleeping and when the camera wouldn't be handy or able to provide photographic proof they were here.

Those pesky deer. We finally had to put an electric fence around the fruit trees. Had about 12 elk in the pasture a couple of days ago. The dog went nuts. Actually right now he is having a little puppy party. I accidentally spilled a container of chex mix. He is now doing a vacuum cleaner impersonation :-)

where would the government be without the likes of Rita, Nena etc.?!

Sometimes it's almost as if we now live in that other country we grew up thinking was so prohibitive to live in. It's as if they prefer citizens just be quiet little sheeple and never mind that terrorists are threatening to nuke us to death while our government officials are telling us the threat is imminent and real.

I've yet to see our government actively inform people via visual recognition (post offices, TV and newspapers) what the known terrorists look like except for what I've seen on the internet. 30 second photographic public service announcements would alert the public and possibly help nab a terrorist. Perhaps it is just too difficult for our government and the media to give national security the #1 priority it should be?

Yes indeed that looks like an ugly missile as well. Thanks for the link. Too bad we haven't torched this jihadi into eternity (but not the one he's looking for). What happens if and when they decide to use those against us on our own soil? Is anyone prepared for retaliatory action and locating the perpetrators in our own country in the event this becomes our reality eventually?

I wish I had answers to your questions. I have to have faith that we are prepared and we just don't know about all the preparations. Unfortunately, some things I read here on TM and FR, makes me feel as if it's blind faith. I think there are a lot more citizens, tucked away in nooks and crannies, that are prepared.
