I have a feeling that a "gravity expert" at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory is paid pretty well.

musta had a significant chunk-o-mass move a little closer to the earth's core. Assuming that nothin' moved out further as a result, and using conservation of angular momentum, we just speed up a little. Just think of a figure skater spinning....when she pulls in her arms she rotates faster.

If you had a space ship travelling at the speed of light, and turned on the headlights, would they do anything?

I thought my alarm went off earlier then normal today. This is a very serious development for the conservatives and a disaster for the Republicans.
Slowing the rotation of the earth will lessen gravity and all you lightheaded conservatives will loose touch with the ground and all you brainless Republicans will fall off entirely.
You may now proceed with your normal duties.

Looks like it's time to watch the movie "The Core " again just in case so we know what has to be done.

Maybe God's way of correcting the aim for that asteroid...instead of hitting hitting in the red states, He's aimin' at San Fran in 2029??

May have shortened the day by 3 microseconds
Vertical Scale is thousands of a second. The day has been getting longer by about 0.002 seconds per century since ancient times. An effect of 0.000003 seconds per day is "noise level".
To: wagglebee
That gives the DemocRATS 3 microseconds less to try to stop the Jan. 20 Inauguration.

Don't know - but I suspect if you speeded up a bit, they'd become taillights.

" I believe a "micro" is a millionth. "
Sorry, but you're off by a factor of 1000. "Micro" means 1/1000.
Sorry but a K designates 1000ths. A micro is a millionth. :)

If we lose 3 microseconds a day (and from the article it sounds like this may just be a "one time" event) in 28,800,000 days (78,904+ years) we will have lost a day. I'm not going to change my schedule over it.
