3 kinds...Petrified wood.....Hollywood.....Natalie Wood...*rimshot*
Was there a camera remaining behind on the deployment pad? The tracks of the rover appear to go right over it.
Hey - it's not MY fault. I locked up all those props and threw away the key. I don't know how the Alien got ahold of them. Better ask Sigourney.
;^D
Dang, that's where that railroad tie is that fell off the back of my truck.
nah - Holly NEVER wood - at least not with me :-(
OK, I've had it with out sourcing jobs....You're not helping!
I have been tracking the rovers and remember "opportunity" coming out of the crater and spotting the shield off in the distance for the first time. I never saw this picture though. What was the SOL date? Which camera angle (Panoramic - front horizacam or navigation camera?
It had to be about SOL 325.
Please let me know.
This is what you are seeing in the distance.
Re: Wood found on Mars? Not Photoshoped - off the nasa website.

I joke about Mars lumber...not dead people. This was my comment:
Didn't we all evolve from "plank"-ton?
I think I see a camp fire in the distance...
I recieved the same freep mail from Buffalo Head.

Not everyone appeciates the humor. Here's a Freepmail I just received from another fellow Freeper (whose identity I shall not reveal):
"Do you really believe that your inane comment in any way contributes to knowledge or the very purpose of FR. Please grow up and come back with some maturity. "
It's just swamp gas. Pay no attention to this and go back to what you were doing! ;}
Anybody else see a "halo" around the "wood" on the left and in front?
It looks like the drove right over it. Notice the tracks.
Hey, what's with this guy, I guess we touched a sore spot. He's probably a poster on the 'Never Ending Thread'.
Looks like it was taken around sol 315 when the rover came out of the crater...the tracks we see are most likely from before the rover went into the crater.
Maybe it drifted from this Martian forest:

Not cool, Mr. Buffalo Head.
